The Sonic Resonator is an essential tool for general gameplay progressions. It allows you to clear Blooms to progress the story and enter new areas, as well as break down any larger Material clusters.

How to Get Sonic Resonator (Locations)

Locate 2 Fragments to Get Blueprint

Sonic Resonator

In order to unlock the Sonic Resonator's Blueprint, you must locate and scan two Sonic Resonators. The blueprint will then be automatically be added to your crafting list.

Confirmed Locations

In the same room as Wu's Blackbox in the Old Habitat
Location 2 - Old Habitat
On the floor in one room next to Wu's Blackbox

There are likely more Sonic Resonator Fragment locations in Subnautica 2, but for the sake of simply unlocking it, we recommend going to the Old Habitat location since you can scan 2 of them there.

Craft the Sonic Resonator

Craft the Sonic Resonator

Once you have the blueprint unlocked, you will find the recipe in the Fabricator. You will be able to craft it once you have acquired its required materials.

Only Way to Clear Blooms

Only Way to Clear Blooms

The Sonic Resonator is the only item that can clear blooms or infection plaguing specific areas in the game. Some game progressions is gated by blooms, making it essential to move the story's forward or even access new areas.

Required to Get Blackbox

Wander Blackbox

Wander's Blackbox is gated behind a bloom net that sits right at its entrance. The only way to get the Blackbox is by using the Sonic Resonator to clear the bloom blocking the way.

All Black Box Locations

Required to Get Heat Tolerance Adaptation

This is the most important use of the Sonic Resonator. Clear the bloom that infects the Angel Comb to get the Heat Tolerance Adaptation. With this Adaptation, you will be able to survive in and explore the Graveyard area.
