An Essential Device

The Repair Tool is one of the most essential handheld devices in Subnautica 2. Whether your habitat takes structural damage or your Tadpole vehicle suffers fractures, this tool is your only means of restoring health to fabrications.

How to Get Repair Tool

Unlock Blueprint and Fabricate

Subnautica 2 - Repair Tool

The Repair Tool is obtained by scanning "Fragments" to unlock its Blueprint. Once unlocked, players can use a Fabricator to craft a Repair Tool.

Requires Scanner to Unlock

Subnautica 2 - Scanning Repair Tool

Gathering Fragments and "Scans" for Subnautica 2 requires the having a Scanner with enough batteries. Remember to bring a working Scanner whenever you're entering new areas for the first time.

Only Needs 3 Fragments

In Subnautica 2, there are usually more "fragments" than needed to unlock a Blueprint. There are multiple locations where you can find Repair Tool fragments, but you only need to find a total of 3.

Cicada Wreck (Lander Garage)

Subnautica 2 - Lander Garage Repair Tool Fragment

Coordinates-307277, 411543, -5428
LocationApproximately 375m Northeast of the Lifepod.

The Cicada Wreck (Lander Garage) is found in the Leadzone Biome northeast of the Lifepod. You can enter the wreckage from underneath the structure. After entering, face South and look at the ground next to the left door.

Cicada Wreck (Canteen)

Coordinates-336293, 457759, -9405
LocationLocated approximately 260m South of the Lifepod.

The Canteen is found in the Tufa Towers biome directly South of the Lifepod. Enter the wreckage from the South side and then go left through a doorway, then down through the hole to spot the Repair Tool sitting on the couch.

Colonist Bunker (Quaker's Meetinghouse)

Coordinates-321943, 449345, -4212
LocationLocated approximately 222m Southeast of the Lifepod.

Quaker's Meetinghouse is found in the North Raceway biome East of the Lifepod. The Repair Tool is sitting on the table in front of the bunker's hatch entrance.

Tailings Village

Coordinates-286367, 449300, -12844
LocationLocated approximately 540m, (105°–120°) East-southeast of the Lifepod.

Tailings Village is situated in the Graveyard biome East of the Lifepod. The Repair Tool can be found inside the Southeastern dome with two balloons attached to it.

Tadpole Pens

Coordinates-272549, 435139, -15053
LocationLocated approximately 685m East of the Lifepod.

The Tadpole Pens are found in the Graveyard biome East of the Lifepod. Once you enter the structure, turn left and head straight to find the Repair Tool on the table by the window.

Kurul Level Access Key Required

Subnautica 2 - Kurul Level Access Key

This area of the Tadpole Pens is inaccessible until you acquire the Kurul Level Access Key from the Hot Cave Base Camp found near Nahema's Lab.

Subnautica 2 - Repair Tadpole

The Repair Tool allows you to restore the HP of damaged vehicles, such as Tadpoles after suffering attacks from aggressive Leviathans or pressure from deep waters.

Repair Doors to Access New Areas

Subnautica 2 - Repairing Doors

You may find malfunctioning doors in some of the Cicada Wreckages or Alterra Bases found throughout the game. The Repair Tool can restore these doors and allow you to access the area behind it.
