Unlike other mobile Leviathans in Subnautica 2, the Deepwing Brooders are docile creatures. Even if you swim right night to them, they will not mind and will continue on their way.

Will Release Egg Broods

The Deepwing Brooders move through the waters in what seems to be a reproductive migration. During their travel, they will release egg broods that contain both decoy eggs and Broodwing Egg Clumps.

Collect Broodwing Egg Clumps

There are more decoy eggs than Broodwing Egg Clumps in their egg broods. Discern which the real eggs are by its center's greener coloration. Each egg brood will have around 1 to 3 of Broodwing Egg Clumps.

The Broodwing Egg Clumps can be used by themselves, but it's recommended to use them to make Pavlova instead. As the highest-rated food in the game, the Pavlova provites both Food, Water, and Healing in a single item.

Can Spawn in Any of the Regions

Since the Deepwing Broodwing are migratory creatures, they can be spotted in any of the regions currently in Subnautica 2. They can be found swimming in shallower waters, often above where the player is.

Use Tadpole to Catch Up to Them

Regardless of their size, the Deepwing Broodwing are quite fast swimmers. To catch up to them, you will need the Tadpole with the Scout Chassis.

How to Scan the Deepwing Brooder

Simply Scan Them

As a non-aggressive Leviathan, there really is no challenge in scanning Deepwing Brooders. At best, the main issue to this is being able to catch up to them.

Can You Kill the Deepwing Brooder?

No Means to Kill Leviathans

There is no means in the current game to be able to defeat the Deepwing Brooder or any other Leviathan for that matter. The Devs have previously stated that no weapons will be added to the game, making it impossible to kill them.
