How to Get Troilite

Search the Seafloor in Axum Quarry

Subnautica 2 Troilite

To find Troilite in Subnautica 2, head to the Axum Quarry biome. Unlike common minerals, Troilite does not appear as small rocks on cave walls. Instead, search the seafloor for large green mineral deposits.

Break Mineral Clinkers with the Sonic Resonator

Subnautica 2 Troilite Mineral Clinker

Troilite cannot be collected by hand. The material is sealed inside large green deposits called "Mineral Clinkers," which must be broken open using the Sonic Resonator. Use the tool to collect the Troilite.

Save Some Troilite for Farming

Subnautica 2 Metal Farm

Troilite respawns are extremely inconsistent and may not return at all in some worlds, so avoid using all of your Troilite immediately. You should save at least one Troilite to place inside a Metal Farm structure so you can duplicate more later. Using everything too early can potentially softlock your story progression.

Watch Out for the Collector Leviathan

Subnautica 2 Collector Leviathan

A massive Collector Leviathan patrols the upper sections of this biome. Fortunately, this squid-like predator has a major blind spot directly underneath its body. Staying close to the seafloor while mining usually lets you avoid detection safely.

Collector Leviathan Guide
Note!Axum Quarry is filled with hostile creatures such as Tonguethiefs, Epicureans, and a nearby Collector Leviathan. Once you begin breaking a Mineral Clinker, gather the materials quickly and stay alert.

Best Troilite Farming Spot

Subnautica 2 Axum Quarry Acid Pool

The best Troilite farming area is located roughly 2080 meters East of the Lifepod inside Axum Quarry. You can easily recognize the zone by the massive Acid Pools releasing yellow vapor throughout the canyon floor.
