Ranking Basis

Ranked Based on Overall Usefulness

This ranking takes into account how commonly a material is used in crafting, as well as the importance of the items that can be made from it. While all materials have their uses, this list simply ranks which ones you should keep in stock as much as possible.

Usefulness Throughout Game Progression

Some materials are highly useful at the start of the game but become less important in the later stages. This ranking takes that into account, prioritizing materials that are useful throughout all phases of the game.

Only Lists Raw Materials

This ranking only includes raw materials. Crafted materials have been excluded, as the goal is to identify which materials to collect as much as possible while exploring.

All Materials are Important

Each material has its use and is important in its own way. This ranking simply highlights which materials are used most often and should be kept in bulk in storage.

Store Materials in Lockers

This does not mean you should carry these materials with you at all times. Simply storing them in Lockers at your base is sufficient.

Base Building - Best Locations and Uses

Raw Material Ranking Explanation

5★ Priority (Must Have Materials)

MaterialRanking Explanation
TitaniumTitanium- A top-priority material,as it's used from the beginning of the game all the way to the endgame.
- Used in most crafting recipes including vehicles, tools, and base building
- Among the required materials in the final mission of the game (Fix the Power Plant)
QuartzQuartz- An essential material for base building since it's required for Glass and Enameled Glass. It's also a component for power-generating structures, such as the Battery Terminal, Solar Panel, etc.
- Also used for System Chips needed for crafting some Vehicles and Tools
CopperCopper
- A highly important material used to create Copper Wire, which is needed for Wiring Kits. This makes it a necessary component for most Vehicles, Tools, and Base Facilities.
Creature EnamelCreature Enamel
- Required for Modifications (Upgrades)
- Mainly used to create Enameled Glass, which is required for progression-tied tools like the Feedback Resonator.
Fibrous PulpFibrous Pulp
- Among the few materials that can be used to craft food and items
- It's used for Fiber, which is required for quite a few recipes
SilverSilver
- Key material for creating your first Fin & Air Tank upgrades
- Continues to be usefulin later parts of the game,as it's needed for Wiring Kits & System Chips required for electronic items.
CelestineCelestine
- Another late-game material, but is required for upgrades since it's needed to make Strontium
- Among the required materials in the final mission of the game (Fix the Power Plant)
SulfurSulfur
- Needed to create Strong Acid, which you need to create Batteries
- Great to have a good stock for emergencies (Lost/Broken Vehicles, Tools, etc.)
GoldGold
- Also required for most electronic crafting recipes.
- Great to have a good stock for emergencies (Lost/Broken Vehicles, Tools, etc.)

These are materials you should collect whenever you come across them during exploration. Try to have a good stock of them at your base at all times. Since these materials are also used to craft Tools and Vehicles, they are strongly tied to your in-game progression.

4★ Priority

MaterialRanking Explanation
LithiumLithium- Mostly used for Batteries
Conduit CrystalConduit Crystal- Used to upgrade different tools, such as the Sonic Resonator and the Scanner
- Also needed for modifying the Tadpole.
AtacamiteAtacamite
- Late-game material, but highly important since it's needed for advanced Vehicle and equipment upgrades
- Among the required materials in the final mission of the game (Fix the Power Plant)
TroiliteTroilite- Late-game material, but highly important since it's needed for advanced Vehicle and equipment upgrades
- Among the required materials in the final mission of the game (Fix the Power Plant)
Lucifer RotsacLucifer Rotsac
- Mainly used for Rubber
LeadLead- Required for Batteries and other crafting recipes

These materials are great to have, but they aren't used as frequently as the 5★ Priority ones. When you first find them, it's a good idea to gather as much as you can. However, once you have a good supply, you can stop actively stocking up on them.

3★ Priority

MaterialRanking Explanation
SaltSalt- Mainly used to make food
- Highly abundant so stocking up on them too much is not recommended
Axum Bacterial CultureAxum Bacterial Culture- Used for to make Metal Farms
- Once you've established a few Metal Farms, there's little need to stock up on more. Only gather what you need.
Acidic Raion PouchAcidic Raion Pouch
- Used to make Weak Acid
- Useful in the early game, but it becomes less necessary around the mid-game, asmany recipes start requiring Strong Acid instead.

These materials are either too abundant or are only used for specific sections of the game. It's recommended that you stock up on them only until you've built what you needed.

2★ Priority

MaterialRanking Explanation
Medical Gel SacMedical Gel Sac
- Healing item

The Medical Gel Sac is a literal lifesaver, but it loses its value in the later parts of the game when you can easily craft better healing items. It's still great to bring some along, but it's not a good idea to keep a large stock of them.

1★ Priority

MaterialRanking Explanation
PentPent
- Used to make Biofuel

Pent only has one use and that's to make Biofuel. It's not a necessary material for progression or survival. You can even go through the whole game without needing to craft Biofuel.
