How to Craft & Build Subnautica 2

Constructing a base should be your top priority in this game. The new free-form construction system is an amazing tool that lets you build complex layouts and design a habitat exactly to your liking, rather than snapping together fixed pieces like the original Subnautica.

Gather and Craft Materials

After collecting all necessary resources, return to your base and use the Fabricator to craft the equipment you need. A Scanner Station is worth setting up, since it actively tracks nearby material deposits instead of leaving you to search blindly.

How to Unlock New Blueprints

Three Ways to Unlock a Blueprint

Not every building piece has a fragment that needs to be scanned. Here are ways to get and unlock blueprints:

Method How It Works
Pickup New Resource
Subnautica 2 Titanium
Collecting any new raw material automatically unlocks a blueprint that the resource could be used for. Most basic structural pieces and furniture can be unlocked this way.
Scan Fragments
Subnautica 2 Scanning a Metal Farm
Some structures need their fragments scanned in the open world before the recipe becomes available. For example, you need to scan two fragments to get a Growbed.
Find Recipe Data Cards
Subnautica 2 A Moonpool Recipe Data Card
A number of blueprints come from interacting with recipe data cards. Most of them are lying around Cicada wrecks or the former colonists' bunkers.
