What Are Recipe Data Cards in Subnautica 2?

Recipe Data Cards are collectible items that unlock crafting blueprints when picked up. They appear as a hologram of a computer chip when you swim near them, making them identifiable even at a distance. They are found inside wrecks, research outposts, and other points of interest scattered across Proteus.

Some of the most important blueprints in the game, including vehicle upgrade modules and base building parts, are locked behind these cards. You cannot craft them without finding the data card first.

How to Find Recipe Data Cards

Recipe Data Cards emit a hologram of a computer chip, making them easier to spot before interacting with them. Check wrecks thoroughly, explore key locations with Blackboxes, like the Research Outpost and Tadpole Pens, and use this guide along with our coordinates to track down any cards you're missing.

All Recipe Data Card Locations in Subnautica 2

Anomaly Recipe Data Card

Located 366m Northeast of the Lifepod inside the Cicada Wreck (Lander Garage). The card is in the locked room behind a broken door.

What You Need

Repair the doors to access. There's also a Rebreather next to it if you haven't scanned one already.

Cavitation Muffler Recipe Data Card

Located 1,981m East-Northeast of the Lifepod. Found on a ledge overlooking the yellow pool of the Metal Farm. This is a late-game location well past the Alien Ruins.

Cicada Debris Recipe Data Card

Located 375m North of the Lifepod inside the highest part of the Old Habitat. Collectible during the same visit as the Quaker, Mantis, and Wu Blackboxes.

Engine Efficiency Recipe Data Card

Located 1,311m East of the Lifepod inside the Research Outpost at the Alien Ruins.

Half Round Room Recipe Data Card

Found in three locations. Two copies are inside the Tadpole Pens, and one is inside the Cicada Wreck (Empty Hold).

Cicada Wreck (Empty Hold)

The first copy is inside the Cicada Wreck (Empty Hold).

Tailings Village Dome

The second copy is inside a Tailings Village Dome, 555m East-Southeast of the Lifepod. There's also a Tailing's Jar and a Hanging Tailing's Jar available to scan.

Tadpole Pens

The third copy is inside the Tadpole Pens base living room. You can also scan a Scout Chassis upgrade in the next room.

High Capacity Air Tank Recipe Data Card

Found in and around the Alien Ruins Research Outpost, approximately 1,302m East of the Lifepod.

Interior Wall Recipe Data Card

Located 389m North-Northeast of the Lifepod, inside a crate on top of an abandoned outpost.

Bonus Blueprints

Getting this data card also unlocks Interior Arch and Interior Door blueprints.

Moonpool Recipe Data Card

One of the most important blueprints you need to find early on. The closest one is 247m South of the Lifepod inside the Cicada Wreck (Canteen).

Nook Recipe Data Card

Found in the eastern area, amid a few pieces of wreckage and crates.

Photovoltaic Charger Recipe Data Card

Located 1,780m East of the Lifepod inside the Cicada Wreck (EVA Prep). This is the same wreck where you find Iso's Blackbox.

What You Need

Repair the broken door to access.

Roof Antenna Recipe Data Card

Swim past the Welcome Center, and you'll find this data card inside a rock cylinder.

Roof Cylinder Recipe Data Card

Located 436m west of the Lifepod. Sitting atop a large mushroom-like coral.

Route Tip

Get this blueprint right after getting the Roof Antenna recipe data card, since both are close together.

Roof Pump Recipe Data Card

Located 455m Northwest of the Lifepod, where you can also find Sean Harris' Blackbox.

Room Recipe Data Card

Found inside the Old Habitat.

Bonus Blueprint

This data card lets you construct and use Ladders.

Small Crate Recipe Data Card

Found in a broken wreckage near the Tadpole Pens area.

Strike Armor Recipe Data Card

Located 1,247m East of the Lifepod, on a platform at 195m depth.

How to Get There

Head 210 degrees southwest of the Alien Ruins Research Outpost to find it.

Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1 Recipe Data Card

Located 1,411m East-Southeast of the Lifepod inside the cave system beneath the Needler Nest.

Nearby Scan

Right next to it is the Tadpole Haul Chassis, which you have to scan as well.
