Highly Aggressive Leviathan

The Collector Leviathan is highly territorial and will attack anything that wanders into its area. They will unleash a pulse from a distance to immobilize targets before coming in for a grab.

Collector Leviathan Location

Found Between the Lifepod & the Alien Ruins

Likely the first time you encounter the Collector Leviathan is when you cross the deep, open waters on the way to the Alien Ruins. It usually sticks to the shallow parts of the water there.

Also Found Around Axum Quarry

It can also be found roaming the waters above the Axum Quarry. You will know that it is has spotted you when the music changes and you hear a deep roar in the water.

How to Scan the Collector Leviathan

Keep to the Back of Its Head

Staying away from its tentacles is the best way to safely scan the Collector Leviathan. Stick to the back of its head and maneuver as you scan to stay in that side.

Use Your Tadpole as a Distraction

In most instances, the Collector Leviathan will continue attacking your Tadpole even if exit it. Use this distraction to scan the massive creature. Just make sure that you have a Repair Tool with you to fix your Tadpole after.

Unlocks the Sonic Echo Biomod

Successfully scanning the Collector Leviathan will unlock the Sonic Echo Biomod. It is the only Leviathan with an unlockable Biomod.

Can You Kill the Collector Leviathan?

No Means to Kill Leviathans

There is no means in the current game to be able to defeat the Collector Leviathan or any other Leviathan for that matter. The Devs have previously stated that no weapons will be added to the game, making it impossible to kill them.

Better to Avoid Them

It's generally best to just outrun the Collector Leviathan. It cannot one shot your Tadpole so once it does its grab, just book it out of there. This will work better if your have the Scout Chassis for faster traversal.
