Table of Contents

Early Access Overview Guide

New System

BioMod System

BioMod System Subnautica 2

A new system that lets you collect traits and abilities from alien creatures to upgrade your own. You start with simple upgrades like improved food digestion, with stronger abilities unlocking the deeper you explore.

How Biomods Work

Biomods come in two types: Active and Passive. Active Biomods are triggered manually, such as Dash for bursting away from predators. Passive Biomods work automatically as long as they’re equipped, providing benefits like improved oxygen efficiency, food conservation, and camouflage.

Note! You can only equip one Active and one Passive Biomod in this current Early Access build.

Unlocking the Full Roster

The current build has 15 total Biomods, 5 of them Active and 10 are Passive, but most stay locked until you find the Bioscanner, an upgraded Scanner used to scan creatures and alien technology.

New Disease

Bloom Disease

Bloom Disease Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2 introduces the Bloom, a type of viral disease that affects the local flora and fauna of the planet. Purifying bloom nodes are one of the story's primary goals.

How the Infection Spreads

The Bloom takes root in Angel Combs, sealing them behind growths called Bloom Cankers that spawn parasites. Smaller connected combs, called Bloom Nodes, usually have to be cleared first.

The Tadpole is a new vehicle that can be customized based on the player's needs.

Swappable Chassis Instead of Separate Vehicles

In this early access build, the only available chassis for the Tadpole are the Scout Ray and the Haul Chassis, but Subnautica 2 may introduce additional vehicles later on. Right now, the Tadpole can be equipped with a swappable chassis.

Chassis Role
Scout Ray Fastest chassis available. Trades cargo space for speed.
Haul Slower, but adds cargo pods and extra co-op seating. Best for resource runs.
Coming Soon!A third walker-style chassis called Seafrog has been previewed but isn't available yet.
