What Are Cells & Where To Get Cells
Equippable Perks Slotted In Weapons & Armor
Cells are a kind of items that you slot in to your armor, weapons and lanterns, which stacks on top of all perks you get from equipped items. Think if them as equippable perks, and this is a crucial core mechanic you must consider when creating a build.
How To Obtain Cells
Cells can obtain a number of ways. These can be obtained as random rewards from fighting Behemoths, or as rewards from Cores you gain when you level up your Mastery and Hunt Pass. These are also obtained via premium currency through the Middleman.

Level Up The Mastery System
The game's Mastery System will be your go-to source for farming Cells. Completing the mastery objectives will level up its corresponding mastery track. Reaching certain levels reward Cores.

To best optimize your progression, make sure to regularly check your Mastery Progression to see which tracks & objectives are nearing completion, and which will reward cores. Look for objectives you can do at the same time to optimize your run!
Keep Track Of The Behemoth Mastery
Defeating Behemoths not only reward materials, but also contributes towards Behemoth Mastery. Check for available objectives and complete them to level up Behemoth mastery.
Try Out All The Weapons
Weapon mastery also rewards cores at different levels, but not as frequent as Behemoth mastery in the early levels. Complete available objectives to level this up.
Level Up Your Hunt Pass
The Hunt Pass also grants Cores when you level it up. Both Basic and Elite tracks reward cores. Simply play through the game to level up the Hunt Pass.

Defeating Behemoths and completing hunts will also reward you Cells & Cores, however this is completely random. It is recommended to play and achieve best hunt ranking and stay alive during the hunt to open up more reward opportunities.

Get Specific Cells From The Middleman
Since most Cells are acquired via chance, the Middleman allows you to select a specific Cell he has on stock in exchange for Platinum or Aetherdust. His stock changes on a weekly basis.
"Dust" Unwanted Cells To Convert to Aetherdust
If you have plenty of unwanted Cells as a result of your farming, you can destroy them and convert them to Aetherdust, a process otherwise known as "Dusting".

Fuse Cells To Upgrade Cells
Fusing Cells is a service offered by the Middleman to upgrade Cells that you have. It consumes 2 cells you have in your inventory, and upgrades them to a higher level. However, there are rules that govern Fusion, which will determine what you will receive after the Fusion.
