Overview & Strengths

Focus on High Crit Chance

Focus on High Crit Chance

Chain Blades inherently have high attack speed which are perfect for critical damage builds. Since chain blades don't do much damage per hit relative to other weapons, builds for this weapon should take advantage of its high attack speed to proc critical damage!

Use Buffs To Further Increase Attack Speed

Chain Blades work best when you boost it further with attack speed & damage boost from items, lanterns and even buffs you get from perks like Molten. Be sure to take advantage of all your items and buffs to maximize damage output!

Needs +6 Weighted Strikes To Boop

One of the two weapons unable to boop in Dauntless, the Chain Blades needs you to have a +6 Weighted Strikes Perk active in order to interrupt a Behemoth's attack.

High DPS & Critical Damage Build

Max Out Cunning For Critical Strike

Max Out Cunning For Critical Strike

This build takes advantage of the Chain Blades' high attack speed to proc as much critical strikes as possible. The Cunning Perk, as well as the Serrated Blades mod gives you higher chances to proc Critical Strikes!

Activate Lantern For Improved Damage & Attack Speed

Activate Lantern For Improved Damage

Your Drask's Eye instant ability increases your damage by 30%, and hold ability will provide additional attack speed boost with Conduit perk which will further improve your Crit chance for maximum damage.

Use Molten Buffs To Raise Your Attack Speed

Molten on the other hand significantly boosts attack speed, further increasing your chances to proc a critical strike, and DPS. Molten buffs are available for anyone who picks the orb up, benefiting the team as well!

Aetheric Frenzy To Charge Up Conduit

The Drask's Eye Hold ability isn't great as it is, but building Conduit on top of it grants an attack speed boost for the entire team. Aetheric Frenzy works well with this as your high attack speed will quickly charge your Lantern Hold ability.

Works Great On Enraged Behemoths

This build makes use of gear that enhances damage on enraged Behemoths with the Ragehunter perk from the Gnasher blades and gloves.

Stamina Regen To Sustain Blade Spin & Evasion

Conditioning enhances Stamina regeneration which fuels your Blade Spin move, allowing you to sustain the combo longer.

Easy To Assemble Build

Gear pieces used in this build can be gathered from Behemoths you can face early in the game, with a maximum threat level of 6 (Kharabak).

Less Priority on Perks & Cells

As you're starting out, try not to worry so much about which Cells to equip. However, prioritize slotting in Bladestorm, Sharpened and Cunning to improve damage.

Makes Use Of Default Weapon Modifications

Makes Use Of Default Weapon Modifications

As with the perks and cells, you don't need to worry yet about weapon mods. Reaper's Dance & Lightweight Chain will do for now.

Caution: Weak Against Shock & Blaze Behemoths

This build is not neutral in terms of resistances, and will have gear pieces weak against shock and blaze Behemoths. Feel free to switch them out when facing these Behemoth types.

This build allows you to max out all the needed Perks to +6, and allows you to focus on maximizing only a few key perks.

High Risk High Reward Build

This build rewards players who favor high risk play, with its reliance on the Iceborne, Rage and Wild Frenzy perks which are triggered below 50% health.

End Game Assembly

All pieces can be farmed early on from the Boreus, and the weapon from the Hellion, however, Light's Crown comes from Rezakiri which can only be fought in the end game.

Highly Effective on Frost Behemoths

This build is very effective against Frost Behemoths with its natural resistance against Frost, and uses a Blaze weapon. However, it is highly ineffective against Blaze Behemoths as well.

Working on this build, "High DPS Crit Chain Blades Loadout", but looks like the equipped cell on the Stride of Thorns, and Light's Refuge doesn't match up with the type you can equip.
