Overview & Strengths
Focus on High Crit Chance
Chain Blades inherently have high attack speed which are perfect for critical damage builds. Since chain blades don't do much damage per hit relative to other weapons, builds for this weapon should take advantage of its high attack speed to proc critical damage!
Use Buffs To Further Increase Attack Speed
Chain Blades work best when you boost it further with attack speed & damage boost from items, lanterns and even buffs you get from perks like Molten. Be sure to take advantage of all your items and buffs to maximize damage output!
Needs +6 Weighted Strikes To Boop
One of the two weapons unable to boop in Dauntless, the Chain Blades needs you to have a +6 Weighted Strikes Perk active in order to interrupt a Behemoth's attack.

High DPS & Critical Damage Build
Max Out Cunning For Critical Strike
This build takes advantage of the Chain Blades' high attack speed to proc as much critical strikes as possible. The Cunning Perk, as well as the Serrated Blades mod gives you higher chances to proc Critical Strikes!
Activate Lantern For Improved Damage & Attack Speed
Your Drask's Eye instant ability increases your damage by 30%, and hold ability will provide additional attack speed boost with Conduit perk which will further improve your Crit chance for maximum damage.
Use Molten Buffs To Raise Your Attack Speed
Molten on the other hand significantly boosts attack speed, further increasing your chances to proc a critical strike, and DPS. Molten buffs are available for anyone who picks the orb up, benefiting the team as well!
Aetheric Frenzy To Charge Up Conduit
The Drask's Eye Hold ability isn't great as it is, but building Conduit on top of it grants an attack speed boost for the entire team. Aetheric Frenzy works well with this as your high attack speed will quickly charge your Lantern Hold ability.

As you're starting out, try not to worry so much about which Cells to equip. However, prioritize slotting in Bladestorm, Sharpened and Cunning to improve damage.
Makes Use Of Default Weapon Modifications
As with the perks and cells, you don't need to worry yet about weapon mods. Reaper's Dance & Lightweight Chain will do for now.
Caution: Weak Against Shock & Blaze Behemoths
This build is not neutral in terms of resistances, and will have gear pieces weak against shock and blaze Behemoths. Feel free to switch them out when facing these Behemoth types.
