Why Raise Mastery Levels?
Increases Your Overall Slayer Level
When you raise both your Behemoth Mastery and Weapon Mastery, your progress will also add to your Slayer Level progress. So when you defeat more Behemoths & efficiently use different weapons, this will all work towards increasing your Slayer Level.
Raising Slayer Level Offers Rewards
Level up your Slayer Level provides you with valuable rewards in Dauntless. Not only do you get higher rank Cores but you also get bigger inventory space, higher max upgrade levels, and better chances in Behemoth loot drops.
Max Slayer Level Rank Capped At 50
In the current state of Dauntless, the max Slayer Level / Rank cap is set at 50. Slayers who reach this level will receive the title "Master Slayer". Weapon & armor level cap are currently at +15.
Behemoth Mastery Gives Battle Perks
When you increase your Behemoth Mastery, you'll gain rewards like Cores and additional items you can bring into the hunts. However, you'll also gain battle perks such as increased resistances and higher chances of breaking Behemoth parts.

You need to raise your Behemoth Mastery for you to unlock the maximum upgrades (+15) for your armor. To get this upgrade, you need to raise your Behemoth Mastery level to 46.

Leveling up your Weapon Mastery per weapon provides you with important upgrade unlocks that you'll need when fighting tougher difficulty Behemoths. When you raise your Weapon Mastery, you'll be able to strengthen weapons to higher levels.

Aside from valuable Cores, you'll also be able to unlock new Weapon specials and mods. This makes your gameplay much more customizable and lets you explore how to play or build your loadout in Dauntless.
How To Level Behemoth Mastery Fast
Defeat Every Behemoth In Dauntless
Raising your Behemoth Mastery means you'll need to hunt and defeat every Behemoth available in Dauntless. Every hunt will count towards raising your Behemoth Mastery levels.

Same with Weapon Mastery, you'll need to complete Behemoth Mastery Card challenges to increase your Behemoth Mastery levels. This can include staggering or wounding a Behemoth or dealing a certain amount of damage.
How To Level Weapon Mastery Fast
Craft & Use Each Weapon Per Category
Crafting each Weapon that you can in Dauntless will increase your Weapon Mastery level for that specific weapon. Using said weapon will also count towards raising your Weapon Mastery.
