Methods Stack To Increase Chances of Capture
These tips & tricks stack their effects and can be used to improve your chances of capturing any Pokemon. It's best to use them all at once to be more successful in catching your desired Pokemon.
Tip 1: Throw Curve Balls To Stop Pokemon Breaking Free
Throwing Curveballs Increases Capture Rate
Spinning a Poke Ball before throwing it will make it a "Curve Ball". Curve Balls, when they hit the Pokemon, will make it harder for them to escape the ball, therefore increasing your capture rate.
Step 1: Drag Poke Ball To Middle Of Screen
Once you're ready to capture the Pokemon, choose your Poke Ball and drag it to the middle of the screen.
Step 2: Spin Clockwise Or Counterclockwise
While dragging your Poke Ball to the middle of the screen, you can start spinning it by dragging your finger clockwise or counterclockwise on your screen.
Step 3: Toss Poke Ball Opposite Of Spin Direction
Once the Poke Ball is spinning, flick your finger to toss it. If you're spinning counterclockwise, throw it to the right side of the screen. Throw the Poke Ball to the left if you're spinning it clockwise.
Tip 2: Make Excellent Throws For Better Chances
Excellent Throws Prevent Pokemon Breaking Free
Making "Excellent" throws gives you a better chance at capturing your desired Pokemon. It prevents Pokemon from breaking free when they're already inside the Poke Ball.
Wait For Capture Circle To Get Smaller
When capturing, wait for the capture circle to become smaller before throwing the Poke Ball. The smaller the capture circle, and if your Poke Ball lands inside this circle, the higher the chance you'll get a "Great" or "Excellent" throw.
Tip 3: Use Better Pokeballs Or Razz Berries
Ultra Balls Make It Easier To Catch Pokemon
The higher the level of Poke Ball you use, the easier it'll be to capture Pokemon. Using an Ultra Ball, the highest level of Poke Ball available, will increase your chances of capturing the Pokemon you want to catch.
Razz Berries Increase Capture Rate
Using Razz Berries will make it easier to catch Pokemon. Feed these to Pokemon before throwing your Poke Balls to up your chances of catching it.
Golden Razz Berries Greatly Increase Catch Chances
Golden Razz Berries are more powerful than normal Razz Berries. They greatly increase your chances of capturing a Pokemon when you feed these to them. They're recommended to be used on legendary or mythical Pokemon.
Tip 4: Capture Pokemon Of Same Type
Medals Increase Pokemon Capture Chance
If you catch many of the same types of Pokemon, you'll earn medals in Pokemon GO. The higher the level of medal you have for a type, the higher catch bonus you'll get.
Catch 200 Pokemon Of Same Type To Earn Gold Medal
