What Is Spotlight Hour?

Increased Chance Of Pokemon To Appear

Spotlight Hour is a special event when Pokemon will have a higher chance of appearing for a limited time. You might be able to catch rare or even Shiny Pokemon!

Increased Spawn Rate Lasts 1 Hour

As the name suggests, Spotlight Hour lasts one hour. Since the event window is so short, it's best to prepare for it ahead of time. Clear your schedule and be ready to catch as many Pokemon as you can within that one hour!

When Is Spotlight Hour Held?

February 18th 6-7 pm Local Time

Event TimeFebruary 18th, 6-7pm local time.

Spotlight Hour will be held on February 18th, from 6-7pm local time. This time around, there won't be any specific special Pokemon that will appear - the spawn rates of all Pokemon will simply be increased.

Pokemon That Appear

February 18th - Pokemon Spawn In Masses

For the February 18th Spotlight Hour event, no specific Pokemon will be featured. Instead, all Pokemon that would normally spawn in an area have their appearance rate increased significantly. This is a great opportunity to collected Stardust and catch Pokemon!

How To Prepare For Spotlight Hour

Stock Up On Ultra Balls

How To UnlockReach Trainer Level 20

In order to maximize your chances of catching Pokemon, it's best to prepare a ton of Ultra Balls ahead of time for Spotlight Hour. Visit tons of Poke Stops to collect as many as you can. If you still don't have access to Ultra Balls, make sure to raise your trainer level to 20 first!

Pokemon Might Get Away If Using Go Plus

Go Plus allows you to catch Pokemon without even having the app open, but it has the unfortunate drawback of only using regular Pokeballs. This means there's a chance the Pokemon might get away. If you'd rather play things safe, get Ultra Balls and catch Pokemon the old fashioned way!

Collect Pinap Berries

"Increases the amount of Candy obtained from catching a Pokemon if fed to it beforehand."

How To UnlockReach Trainer Level 18

Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to get not only Stardust, but also Candy! If you give a Pinap Berry to a Pokemon before catching, you will increase the amount of Candy you get!
