Jinx Strategy and Countermeasures

  • Prepare for instant death attacks
  • Focus on normal attacks
  • Apply Geno Boost
  • Defeating with Rock Candy is also an option
  • Learn the timing for defense actions
  • The Triple Move "Protecting Veil" is effective

Prepare for instant death attacks

Mario RPG Remake_Jinx_Instant Death Countermeasure

From the second battle onwards, he will use the instant death attack, so it's better to equip each character with gear that can counter instant death.

List of Equipment with Instant Death Resistance

EquipmentHow to Obtain
Mario RPG Remake_Accessory_IconSafety Ring
Treasure chest in the hidden room of the Sunken Ship
Mario RPG Remake_Accessory_IconJinx Belt
After achieving 30 Super Jumps, talk to the Thwomp on the 2nd floor of the house in Monstro Town
Mario RPG Remake_Accessory_IconQuartz Charm
Defeat Culex

Focus on normal attacks

Mario RPG Remake_Jinx_Normal Attack

He has resistance to everything except Jump and normal attacks. If you haven't increased your magic attack power, Jump and non-elemental magic won't be very effective, so it's recommended to focus on normal attacks.

Apply Geno Boost

Mario RPG Remake_Jinx_Geno Boost

Jinx has high defense, and without an attack buff, you won't be able to deal decent damage. The damage taken is also large, so apply Geno Boost to all characters to enhance their attack and defense.

Defeating with Rock Candy is also an option

Mario RPG Remake_Jinx_Rock Candy

While his defense is high, his HP is low, so "Rock Candy," which deals powerful fixed damage, is effective. You can easily mass-produce them using Toadofsky (Mushroom Boy), so if you can't win, try collecting "Rock Candy" before challenging him.

Rock Candy's power increases with Geno Boost

Using "Rock Candy" after applying Geno Boost increases its power to 300.

Learn the timing for defense actions

Mario RPG Remake_Jinx_Instant Death Damage

Jinx has many attack patterns that deal instant death-level damage if received without defending. Be sure to learn the timing for Action Commands in advance.

Action Command Timing Summary

Jinx Rush
Jinx Rush
When reaching the highest point of the jump after the rush
Triple Kick
Triple Kick
During the kicking motion after jumping up
Iron Body
Iron Body
Immediately after stopping in front of the character
Shockwave
Shockwave
Immediately after the launched sphere starts moving
Final Fist
Final Fist
When he moves behind the character and performs a backstep

The Triple Move "Protecting Veil" is effective

Mario RPG Remake_Jinx_Protecting Veil

Jinx only uses single-target attacks, so if you deploy a barrier with the Triple Move "Protecting Veil", even if you fail an Action Command, you can nullify damage up to 3 times, making the battle more stable.

Fill the Triple Move gauge to 100% before battle

If you fill the Triple Move gauge to 100% before the battle, you can use the Triple Move at the start, saving time to charge it.

Jinx (Observing)

  1. Jinx (Observing)

    You're 10 years too early!

...You're 10 years too early to fight me, right?
Using Valor Up is about all I need, and then
maybe a double attack occasionally should be enough.

Jinx (A Little Serious)

  1. Jinx (A Little Serious)

No mercy for villains, no Buddha's compassion needed!

...This isn't the time to be thinking about "no mercy."
With Iron Body and Final Fist too,
they probably can't defend against this.

Jinx (True Strength)

  1. Jinx (True Strength)

Your passionate fist, I've carved it into my heart!!
Let me call you a worthy opponent (friend)!!

...Carve it into your heart that you'll be beaten if you let your guard down!
With Spirit Up followed by Shockwave, I won't
hold back anymore! There's no way I can lose!
