How to Chain

Succeed at Action Commands

Succeed at Action Commands

Chains occur when you successfully perform Action Commands in a row. This boosts Mario and his allies' stats, giving you an advantage in battle, so aim for consecutive successes.

Effects Activate from a 2-Chain

A chain doesn't activate after just one successful Action Command; it starts from two consecutive successes.

Chains Don't Break from Unblockable Attacks

Chains Don

Although you can't defend against area-of-effect attacks or certain other attacks with Action Commands, taking these hits will not break your chain.

Chains Don't Break on a MISS

When a MISS occasionally occurs during an attack or defense, the Action Command will not be successful. However, a MISS does not affect the chain, so you don't have to worry about your chain breaking due to luck.

Chain Effects Vary by Character

The effect activated by a chain is called an "Ally Bonus," and its effect is determined by the characters in your party. Each character boosts a different stat, so consider the chain effects when forming your party.

Chains Can Be Carried Over to the Next Battle

Chains do not reset to 0 at the end of a battle and can be carried over to the next one. The higher the chain count, the more powerful the effect, so it's a good idea to build up your chain count before facing tough enemies like bosses.

The Maximum Chain Count is 999

The maximum chain count is "999". Reaching 999 does not provide any further effect enhancements or rewards.

BGM Changes at 5+ Chains

When your chain reaches 5 or more, the BGM will change. Additional parts are added, making the BGM more lively.
