Yoshi Race Guide and Tips for When You Can't Win
- Press A and B alternately in rhythm with the sound
- Even if the music stops, maintain the same rhythm
- It's recommended to use cookies in the latter half
Press A and B alternately in rhythm with the sound

In the Yoshi Race, you advance by pressing A and B alternately in time with the cymbal sound playing in the game. While you can also look at the button display in the bottom right of the screen, listening to the sound and matching it is more reliable and recommended.
You can check your timing with the button display in the bottom right

The A and B buttons displayed in the bottom right will show an effect and light up if your timing is correct, so you can check if your timing is right.
Even if the sound stops, maintain the same rhythm

The cymbal sound will disappear after a certain amount of time from the start. The rhythm remains constant even after that, so continue pressing rhythmically at the same tempo. It's also good to rely on the game BGM instead of the cymbal sound to set your own timing.
It's recommended to use cookies all at once in the latter half

In the latter half, there's no cymbal sound, making it harder to keep rhythm compared to the first half. Also, there's a slight time lag after using a cookie until you can move again, so it's recommended to use cookies in the latter half of the race when the goal is somewhat in sight.
Efficient Way to Earn Cookies
Efficient Way to Earn Cookies | |
---|---|
1. Race Laps | Lap the race yourself. If you can win consistently, it's more time-efficient. |
2. Cheer Reset | Select 'Cheer' and reset if you lose. You can earn without controlling the race yourself. |
If prioritizing time efficiency, lap the race

Once you get used to the timing, the race is easy to win, so it's generally recommended to lap the race manually. The time efficiency is significantly higher compared to the cheer reset method introduced next.
If you want to earn without operating, there's also the cheer reset method

If you select 'Get off and cheer for Yoshi' at the start of the race, Yoshi will race automatically. By saving before the race, loading if you lose, and saving if you win, repeating this process, you can earn cookies without controlling the race, so this is recommended if you want to increase them easily.
Cookie multiplier also resets
The multiplier for cookies earned upon victory is determined between 1.5 to 10 times, but this multiplier is also re-determined if you reset.

Receive rewards by giving cookies to Baby Yoshi

The reward for the Yoshi Race is Yoshi Cookies. By giving these cookies to the Baby Yoshi located in the upper part of the map in Yo'ster Isle, you can receive various rewards.
Giving a total of 21 cookies will turn it into Fat Yoshi

First, give a total of 21 cookies to Baby Yoshi to turn it into Fat Yoshi. You don't necessarily have to give 21 cookies at once; it's okay as long as the total given reaches 21.
You can make it Fat Yoshi by going back and forth with Red Yoshi

Since you don't need to give them all at once, by repeating the process of giving all cookies to make it 0 ⇒ receiving 3 cookies from Red Yoshi, you can turn it into Fat Yoshi without doing the race.
Red Yoshi Extract for every 20 cookies given

If you give 20 or more cookies to Fat Yoshi at once, you will receive Red Yoshi Extract. Red Yoshi Extract is a powerful item and is the main prize among the Yoshi Race rewards.
Frog Coin upon reaching a total of 50 cookies

When the total number of cookies given to Baby Yoshi/Fat Yoshi reaches 50, you will receive 1 Frog Coin. When receiving the Frog Coin, you cannot receive other items at the same time, so be careful not to give 20 cookies.
