Optional Area

Pipe Dungeon is an optional area and not required to clear for story progression. However, you can obtain Flowers and Frog Coins, and it's not very difficult, so clearing it is recommended.

Navigating the Lava Zone with Dash Jumps

Pipe Dungeon

If you fall in the lava zone, you'll be sent back to the beginning. Jump onto the platforms with good timing after the Sparky falls.

Run Past Thwomps After They Land

Pipe Dungeon

If the Thwomps on the stairs crush you or you touch the vibration from their landing, you'll be sent back down. Run up immediately after they land.

The Furthest Pipe is the Progression Route Among the Six Pipes

Pipe Dungeon

In the passage with six pipes, three are enterable, but only the furthest pipe is the progression route.

Obtain Items in the Second Pipe

Entering the second pipe reveals a hidden board near the entrance, and two hidden treasure chests and one regular treasure chest in the upper passage. The Frog Coin on the ground can be obtained by pressing the bottom-left key to crouch just before hitting the wall while dashing.

Play a Minigame in the Fifth Pipe

Pipe Dungeon

Entering the fifth pipe allows you to play the Goomba Thumping minigame for 10 coins. You get a Flower Capsule for scoring 20 points the first time, and thereafter, you receive a reward for every 2-point improvement.

Proceed While Avoiding Piranha Plants

Pipe Dungeon

Touching a Piranha Plant will cause you to lose 2 coins. Be careful not to touch them and jump over them.

Enter the Pipe at the End

Pipe Dungeon

Collect the treasure from the yellow block and enter the pipe at the end. For the second treasure chest, if you don't jump when the block stops, you'll hit the Piranha Plant below. Entering the pipe allows you to proceed to Yo'ster Isle.
