Table of Contents

Bowser's Castle Strategy Party

The recommended party is Mario, Bowser and Peach. In Bowser's Castle, some enemies will flee when they see Bowser. If you don't want to fight much, include Bowser in your party.

How to Get to Bowser's Castle

Accessible via Lakitu Bus from Nimbus Land

Lakitu Bus

After reporting about the battle in Barrel Volcano and the remaining Star Piece, you will be able to use the Lakitu Bus. Exit the palace, go left, and talk to the Lakitu Bus manager. This will allow you to go to Bowser's Castle.

Proceed Straight Through the Castle

Bowser

Once inside the castle, follow the path straight ahead. There's a Chikuwa Bridge along the way, so be careful not to fall off.

Enemies May Flee if Bowser is Present

Bowser

If Bowser is in the battle, Koopa Troopas and Goombas may flee. This is useful if you want to minimize battles, but it will also make it harder to level up, so if you want to earn experience points, remove Bowser from the party.

Proceed Through the Darkness

Bowser

Follow the path and you'll reach a dark area where only Mario's surroundings are visible. Enemies will appear suddenly, so proceed slowly if you want to avoid battles.

There's a Save Point and Croco's Shop

Save and Croco

After exiting the dark area, there is a save block and Croco's shop. There will be 6 doors and consecutive boss battles after this, so be sure to save.

Hidden Room in the Bottom Left

Hidden Room

You can access a hidden room from the bottom-left corner of this room. Inside, there's an instant-use full recovery Mushroom and 150 coins, so be sure to collect them.

Conquer the 6 Doors

Bowser

The 6 doors each lead to an action course, battle course, or puzzle course. Clearing 4 doors allows you to proceed to the next area. The course behind each door is random and unknown until you enter.

Area Features

Action Course- Easy if you're confident with Mario's controls
- Excellent weapon for crossing magma
Battle Course- 12 consecutive battles
- Easy if your party is strong enough
- Both rooms have excellent weapons
Puzzle Course- Easiest if you look at the answers
- Rewards are mediocre

Avoid Difficult Doors by Giving Up

Once you enter a door, you cannot exit, but if the content is difficult, you can give up by pressing the - button. Giving up will return you to the front of the door, so if you open a door you find difficult, give up.

Different Items are Awarded

Bowser

The items you receive differ depending on the course. Be sure to obtain the strongest pre-clear weapons: Drill Claw, Sonic Cymbal, and Star Gun.

Fight Magikoopa

Bowser
  • Prepare for elemental attacks
  • Defeat summons with normal attacks
  • Be careful of area-of-effect attacks

Proceed further to battle Magikoopa. Magikoopa uses powerful elemental magic, so equip items like "Safety Ring" or "Booster's Charm" to reduce elemental damage.

Free healing and infinite coins

After defeating Magikoopa, you can talk to it for a free full HP/FP recovery. It will also reveal a treasure chest with infinite coins, so grab them if needed.

Croco is in the left door

Bowser

Croco is beyond the left door. You can buy the strongest exclusive armor for each character, so purchase and equip them.

Proceed Through the Thwomp Path

Bowser

You cannot move the instant a Thwomp falls, and being crushed will immobilize you for a period. You can avoid the vibration by jumping, so jump frequently to proceed smoothly.

Fight Boomer

Bowser
  • Prepare for Swallow Return (Tsubamegaeshi)
  • Stats change with color

Proceed further to battle Boomer. Its attack power and defense differ by body color, so observe carefully while fighting.

Fight Exor

Bowser
  • Use Mute (Okuchi ni Chakku) for magic defense
  • Defeat the Left Eye to remove the barrier
  • Geno Blast is effective against the main body

After defeating Boomer, you will immediately fight Exor. After defeating it, you can go to the final area, Weapon World.
