How to Complete the Monster List

Added to the Monster List by Fighting Them

Added to the Monster List by fighting them

By fighting a monster, its name will be added to the Monster List. Monsters you haven't fought yet will be displayed as "?????".

Defeating Smithy Unlocks Most of the List

After defeating the final boss, Smithy, all monsters except for Culex and the post-game rematch bosses will be added to the Monster List. You can enjoy looking at enemies you've never fought.

You Must Fight Certain Enemies

Culex, the post-game rematch bosses, and some other enemies will not be added to the Monster List unless you fight them. Travel to each location again to re-battle the bosses.

Use Thought Peek to Fill the List

Fill the list with Thought Peek

By using Mallow's special move, Thought Peek, on a monster and successfully performing the Action Command, you can view its weaknesses and dialogue by pressing the Y button.Be aware that the list will not be updated if you fail the Action Command.

A Checkmark Appears Next to the Name

A Checkmark Appears Next to the Name

When Thought Peek is successful, a checkmark will appear next to the monster's name in the list. This makes it easy to see at a glance which monster details are still unknown.

Use the List-filling Service for Missed Entries

Use the List-filling Service for missed entries

In the Land's End, there is a service called the Monster List Filling Service. Even if you forgot to use Thought Peek during a boss fight, you can use Frog Coins to fill in the entries, although it is random.

Use It When You Can't Fill It Otherwise

The filling service costs 3 Frog Coins to fill in one random monster. You don't know which monster will be filled in, so try to fill in as many as you can on your own before using it.

What is the Monster List?

A List Showing Monster Details

The Monster List shows the stats, dropped items, and number of times defeated for each monster in Mario RPG. You can also watch the monster's movements by pressing the Y button, which makes it easier to time your Action Commands.

Get the Monster Trophy for Completion

Get Monster Trophy for Completion

You will receive the Monster Trophy for completing the entire Monster List. It has no particular use, but keep it as a testament to your efforts.
