Timely Press Button When Enemy Attacks

Press the Button with Good Timing During an Enemy

Guarding is activated by pressing the A button with good timing during an enemy's attack. The attack motions vary by enemy, so fight them a few times to learn the timing.

A "!" Icon Will Indicate the Right Time Initially

When fighting an enemy for the first time, a ! mark will appear to show you the perfect timing for an action. This '!' display will disappear after a certain period, so be sure to learn the timing while it's still showing you.

Attacks with a Star Mark Can Be Guarded

Attacks with a Star Mark Can Be Guarded

Attacks that show a star mark when you take damage from an enemy can be guarded. Proceed with battles while checking if the enemy monster's attacks can be guarded.

Area-of-Effect Attacks Cannot Be Guarded

For enemy area-of-effect attacks, Action Commands are nullified, and you cannot guard against them. Additionally, "Action Command ineffective!" will be displayed below the move name in the top right of the screen.

Successfully guarding will halve the damage, and a Perfect Guard will reduce it to 0. Reducing damage from enemies will give you an advantage in battle.

Successful Consecutive Actions Start a Chain

Successfully performing Action Commands in a row will start a chain. This will boost the stats of Mario and his friends, giving you an advantage in battle, so aim for consecutive successes.

Successful Commands Raise the Gauge

Successful Commands Raise the Gauge

Successfully performing Action Commands fills up the gauge, and when the gauge is full, you can use a Triple Move. This allows for powerful attacks and defenses, so it's recommended to use it in boss battles or against strong enemies.
