The story, which was highly acclaimed back then, is of course interesting, and the comfort has been greatly improved in the remake. However, as it's a game from over 20 years ago, the game system is very simple, and the volume is somewhat less compared to recent games.

Overall: A Classic RPG Enjoyable by Everyone

With its simple gameplay, it's easy for RPG beginners to play, and the addition of new elements made it enjoyable even for those who had played the original. It felt like a classic, orthodox RPG remade with modern technology, making it a game that a wide range of people can enjoy.
Enjoyable Enough Even for RPG Beginners

The game system is a simple command battle with added action elements where you press buttons with good timing. The battle difficulty can also be adjusted in two stages, so even RPG beginners can enjoy it without any problems.
The Action Parts Are a Bit Difficult
The action system just involves pressing buttons with good timing, but the timing changes depending on the weapon or skill, making the difficulty slightly high. However, you can still progress even if you don't succeed, so you can enjoy gradually learning and improving.
A Remake That Satisfies Fans of the Original

Super Mario RPG is an RPG co-developed by Nintendo and Square in 1996. As someone who played the original, I had some anxiety about the remake, but it's a remake that revives the good qualities of the original while preserving them, delighting Mario RPG fans.
Even More Fun with New Elements

New elements from the remake include added cutscenes and changes to the battle system etc. Cutscenes have been added to boss battles, and the addition of "Triple Moves" expands the breadth of combat, allowing even those who have thoroughly played the original to enjoy it with a fresh feeling.
Significantly More Comfortable Than the Original Version
Changes in the remake include constant dashing, the ability to open the map anywhere and warp to different areas, and movement to important locations within an area, greatly improving aspects that felt cumbersome in the original version.
Volume is Almost the Same as the Original Version
There are no major additions to the story in the remake, and the story volume is almost the same as the original version. It's a volume that can be cleared in about 15-20 hours, so some people might find it short.
Post-Game Elements Offer a Good Challenge

As an additional element in the remake, a challenging feature where you can rematch bosses after clearing the game has been added. All bosses have become very powerful enemies, making it a very challenging content to test your skills.
Abundant Easter Eggs Are Still Present

The Easter eggs, which can be called a hallmark of Mario RPG, are still present in the remake, making it a delightful remake for those who have played the original. Characters and lines that seem familiar appear in various places, so first-time players should try exploring every nook and cranny of the map.
