Culex Strategy and Countermeasures

  • Counteract elemental damage and status ailments
  • Rock Candy is effective
  • Defeat the Crystals one by one
  • Be careful of "Shredder" when applying buffs
  • It's possible to aim for depleting the enemy's FP

Counteract elemental damage and status ailments

Culex_Equipment

The four Crystals use powerful elemental attacks and status ailments. It's especially important to prioritize countermeasures against elemental attacks.

It's better not to equip gear that grants buffs

Equipment that grants Attack Up or Defense Up will have its buffs nullified by Culex's "Shredder".

Rock Candy is effective

Culex_Rock Candy

Since there are many enemies, "Rock Candy," which deals fixed damage to all enemies, is effective. Rock Candy can be collected from the Mushroom Boy in Ripple Town, so if you can't win, try challenging with the maximum amount you can carry.

You can enhance its power with Geno Boost

The damage from Rock Candy is increased by the buff from Geno Boost, so apply Geno Boost first.

Defeat the Crystals one by one

Culex_Crystal

Defeated Crystals do not revive, so it's better to focus attacks on them one by one to quickly reduce the number of enemy attacks. Decide on the order to defeat them.

OrderEnemyBrief Explanation
1Wind CrystalWindIt has the lowest HP and possesses troublesome party-wide status ailment attacks, so defeat it first.
2Water CrystalWaterIt has the second lowest HP, making it easier to defeat quickly. Its powerful single-target attacks and party-wide magic are troublesome.
3Earth CrystalEarthUses non-elemental magic, so equipment cannot counter it. It has high HP but low defense, so normal attacks are effective.
4Fire CrystalFireIt has a lot of HP and takes time to defeat, so it's better to lower its defeat priority.

If you have leeway, it's okay to ignore the Crystals

Even if you don't defeat the Crystals, you will win the battle by defeating Culex itself. If Mario and his party have enough HP, it's fine to fight while ignoring the Crystals.

Be careful of "Shredder" when applying buffs

Culex_Shredder

Culex uses . Be careful about the timing when using Geno Boost or buff items.

It's possible to aim for depleting the enemy's FP

Culex_Skill power ran out

Culex's and the Crystals' FP are finite, so if you focus on endurance and recovery for a while, you can neutralize all enemies by making them run out of FP.

The Crystals will become unable to do anything

When FP runs out, Culex may perform normal attacks, but the Crystals will become completely unable to do anything.
