Chip Away at Defense with Direct Damage and Auto‑Evolved Storm

Milteo Abysscraft is a combo deck that finishes the game by using Storm followers that automatically evolve through Milteo & Luzen’s Crest effect, along with direct burn damage. In the late game, it can unleash a huge burst of damage in a single turn, which makes it a fantastic deck that has explosive finishing power.

Milteo Abysscraft Deck - How to Play

Attack by Playing Followers From the Get Go

Play followers from turn 1 and use your followers on the field to chip away at the enemy leader's defense. When the opponent plays a follower, it's ideal to make them trade into your followers rather than you trading into theirs.

Save the Ghosts Added to Your Hand

Ghosts added to your hand from cards like Cultivator of Malice, Ghastly Soiree, and Ghost Dodger should be saved as much as possible, as you'll want to use them after activating Milteo & Luzen's Crest. After the Crest is active, Ghosts will automatically evolve and deal 3 damage.

It's Okay to Play Skeletons and Bats

Skeletons and Bats added to your hand are also cards you'll generally want to save until after Milteo & Luzen's Crest is active. However, it's fine to play them if your hand is about to overdraw or your board is weak. If you play them after the Crest is active, you can aim for board clear via automatic evolution or healing with Drain.

Draw Milteo & Luzen into Your Hand

Use your draws from cards like World of Games and Depths of the Eld Sight (which you get from evolving Bibatii, Eld Sight) to find Milteo & Luzen, who you want to play on your Super-Evolution turn. Milteo & Luzen's Crest is crucial for this deck, so you'll want to play them as early as possible on your Super-Evolution turn.

Clear the Board with Reaper's Deathslash

Clear the opponent's board in the mid-game with Reaper's Deathslash. It's recommended to target a follower that's fine to destroy, like a Ghost.

Grant Milteo & Luzen's Crest

Super-Evolve Milteo & Luzen to grant their Crest to your leader. On Evolve, they can destroy 6 followers, allowing you to reset the opponent's board and play them safely. This also lets you deal with troublesome followers that have abilities like Intimidate and Aura.

Use Milteo & Luzen when the Opponent has a Strong Board

If your opponent builds another strong board on the turn after you clear theirs with Milteo & Luzen, there's a risk it will be difficult to respond. Therefore, if you don't have any follow-up removal cards, it's best to time their use for when your opponent creates a strong board.

Bibatii, Eld Sight's Drawback is Negated

Cards with effects that trigger upon automatic evolution become even stronger after Milteo & Luzen's Crest is active. Remember that Bibatii, Eld Sight will be able to add Depths of the Eld Sight to your hand without spending Necromancy.

Finish Them Off with Storm Followers

After activating Milteo & Luzen's Crest, play Storm followers like Ghost to finish off the opponent's defense. Since a single Ghost can deal 3 damage, you can aim for massive damage in one turn.

Aim for a Finish with Powerful Burn Spells

Rage of Serpents and Tyrannical Fists are powerful spells that deal 3 damage to the enemy leader for 2 cost. Since they can deal damage ignoring effects like Ward on the board, they're recommended for that final push for lethal.

Use EP with Shadowcrypt Memorial

After Milteo & Luzen's Crest is active, your played followers will evolve automatically, so you'll often have spare EP. However, the Ghost from Shadowcrypt Memorial can be evolved manually, independently of the Crest's effect, making it an effective way to convert leftover EP into damage.

Mulligan Guide for the Milteo Abysscraft

Look for Cheap Cards and Milteo & Luzen for Your Opening Hand

When you are choosing your starting hand, make it a priority to find cards that only cost 1 point to play and Milteo & Luzen. The best plan is to start putting followers on your side of the field right from turn 1 so you are ready for a smooth transition to your big play with Milteo & Luzen later.

If You Already Have the Cards Above, Keep These Too

Once you’ve secured your 1-cost followers and Milteo & Luzen, you should also look for cards you can play during turns 2 through 5. This ensures you always have something to put on the field every single turn without ever falling behind.

How to Counter the Milteo Abysscraft

Stop Their Early Pressure

This deck likes to play followers like Lilith and Cultivator of Malice early on to chip away at your health. If you let these cards stick around, they can sometimes secure an early lethal. Keep the field under control by using your own low-cost followers and attack spells to take them down immediately.

Force Them to Waste Their Ghosts

If you can take the lead on the field, your opponent will be forced to use their Ghosts just to destroy your followers. Making them use Ghosts this way is great because it reduces the damage they can deal once Milteo & Luzen's Crest activates, which helps buy you time and delays their lethal turn.

Build a Strong Team After Milteo & Luzen Appear

Once your opponent evolves Milteo & Luzen, it’s your chance to build a powerful field with cards like Aether or Neptune. This deck mostly relies on Milteo & Luzen for their AoE (clearing the whole field). If they don't have a second copy ready, your team is much more likely to survive, giving you a clear path to victory.

Stop Them from Healing with Drain

A smart strategy is to build your field in a way that stops your opponent from healing. If you have big finishers in your hand like Killer Rhinoceroach or Sandalphon, you can intentionally leave your side of the field empty.

Make the Most of Intimidate Followers

Using followers with Intimidate is also very effective here. Your opponent won't be able to hit them with their Bats to heal, and they can only destroy them with a few specific cards like Reaper's Deathslash. If these followers stay on the field, they become massive threats that can end the game quickly.
