Chip Away with Direct Damage and Auto-Evolved Storm

Milteo Abysscraft is a high‑damage aggro deck that closes out games with auto‑evolved Storm followers from Milteo’s Crest effect and consistent burn damage. With numerous sources of immediate damage, it excels at ending games with explosive speed.

Milteo Abysscraft Deck - How to Play

Attack by Developing Followers from the Early Game

Develop Followers from Turn 1 to chip away at the enemy Leader's defense. Deal with any Followers your opponent plays with Valiant Edge or Screaming and Loathing.

Buffing with Castle of Entwining is Powerful

We recommend buffing Lilith, Enchanting Succubus and Cultivator of Malice with Castle of Entwining. Not only does this increase your damage output, but it also prevents them from being taken out by enemy 2/2 followers for free, making it easier to control the field in the early game.

Save the Ghosts Added to Your Hand

For Ghosts added to your hand from Cultivator of Malice, Ghastly Soiree, and Yuna, Occult Hunter, try to save them for after Milteo & Luzen's Crest has been activated. After the Crest is active, a Ghost will evolve automatically and deal 3 damage.

It's Okay to Play Skeletons and Bats

Skeletons and Bats added to your hand are also cards you'll generally want to save until after Milteo & Luzen's Crest is active. However, it's fine to play them if your hand is about to be full or your field is weak. If played after the Crest is active, you can use their automatic evolution to clear the field or restore defense with Drain.

Draw Milteo & Luzen Into Your Hand

Use draw effects from cards like Castle of Entwining and Screaming and Loathing to find Milteo & Luzen, who you'll want to play on your Super-Evolution turn. Since this deck runs few followers, Screaming and Loathing makes it easier to draw Milteo & Luzen when you use Mode (2).

Clear the Field with Reaper's Deathslash and Corruption

Deal with the opponent's mid-game field using Reaper's Deathslash and Corruption. For Reaper's Deathslash, we recommend targeting a follower you don't mind destroying, like a Ghost. Be careful when playing Corruption, as it will deal damage to you and lower your own defense.

Play Yuna When You Have Field Control

When you have an advantageous field, play Yuna, Occult Hunter. If Yuna has been destroyed beforehand, she can be Reanimated by Milteo & Luzen's ability, and her Last Words will add a Ghost and a Bat to your hand.

Grant Milteo & Luzen's Crest

Super-Evolve Milteo & Luzen to grant their Crest to your leader. Their Evolve effect destroys 6 followers, letting you reset the opponent's field and play them safely. This allows you to deal with followers that have troublesome abilities like Intimidate or Aura.

Use Milteo & Luzen When the Opponent's Field is Strong

If your opponent rebuilds a strong field on the turn after you've cleared it with Milteo & Luzen, there's a risk it will be difficult to deal with. Therefore, if you don't have any follow-up removal, it's best to use them in response to your opponent creating a strong field.

Finish Them Off with Storm Followers

After Milteo & Luzen's Crest is active, play Storm followers like Ghost and use their automatic evolution to finish off the enemy leader. Using Dark Side turns a Ghost into a 5-damage source, letting you deal a large amount of damage in a single turn.

Finish with Powerful Burn Damage Spells

Rage of Serpents and Tyrannical Fists are powerful spells that can deal 3 damage to the enemy leader for 2 cost. They can deal damage through followers with Ward, so we recommend using them for the final push.

Use EP with Shadowcrypt Memorial

After Milteo & Luzen's Crest is active, your followers will evolve automatically when played, so you'll often have leftover EP. However, the Ghosts from Shadowcrypt Memorial can be evolved manually, separate from the Crest's effect, which is an effective way to convert that leftover EP into damage.

Mulligan Guide for the Milteo Abysscraft

Keep 1-Cost Followers and Milteo & Luzen

In your mulligan, focus on keeping 1‑cost Followers and Milteo & Luzen. Playing early followers helps you transition smoothly into your Milteo & Luzen turn, giving you a stable start. Holding onto extra followers also makes it easier to find Milteo & Luzen using Screaming and Loathing.

Keep Castle of Entwining, Ghastly Soiree, and Screaming and Loathing as a set

If you already have a 1‑cost Follower and Milteo & Luzen in hand, you should also keep Castle of Entwining, Ghastly Soiree, and Screaming and Loathing together. These cards help you gather resources and can make a weak early game much easier to recover from.
