Mode Abysscraft Deck - How to Play
Build Up Your Faith Count

In the early to mid-game, play your Mode cards to increase your Faith count. Because Mode cards are so flexible, giving you options to either knock out enemy followers or put your own attackers on the field, you can easily switch between playing defensively or going on the attack depending on what kind of deck your opponent is using.
Summon a Bat for Fediel

Make sure you play Winged Servants early on to summon a Bat, because you'll want to bring that exact Bat back to life later using Fediel, Darkness Personified's Reanimate ability. Doing this lets you automatically evolve the Bat and heal your leader using its Drain ability.
Don't Waste Cards Just to Gain Faith

If you rush to gain Faith by evolving your followers when the enemy has no attackers out, or by wasting Screaming and Loathing when there's nothing threatening on the board, you'll likely run out of cards and lose later in the game. You will win much more often if you focus on carefully managing the back-and-forth fight for the field during the middle of the game, rather than just racing to get your Faith as high as possible.
Plan How to Unlock Your Faith Bonus

Once your Faith reaches 10, your cards become incredibly powerful, allowing you to choose multiple [Mode] abilities at the exact same time. When you are getting close to 10 Faith, think carefully about exactly which card you will play to cross that finish line, and which Mode abilities you want to unleash right after playing Sham-Nacha, Heir to Entwining.
How You Play Sham-Nacha is Crucial

For example, instead of super-evolving Congregant to reach your 10th Faith and *then* playing Sham-Nacha, you get much more value if you hit 10 Faith using a card's Fanfare ability *before* Sham-Nacha hits the field. That way, you can use a super-evolution while your Faith bonus is fully active! Figuring out how to play Sham-Nacha for maximum impact is the single most important skill to learn with this deck.
Consider Stealing with Sham-Nacha's Super-Evolution
Additionally, if you manage to hit 10 Faith without spending your super-evolution, you can use Sham-Nacha's super-evolution to steal one of your opponent's cards. You should absolutely aim for this trick when your opponent plays incredibly annoying followers like Ginsetsu & Yuzuki, Twin Calamities or Vira, Luminous Primal Knight. Always plan a turn ahead to get the most out of Sham-Nacha!
The Choice: Attack Early or Wait for the Faith Bonus

Cards like Congregant of Entwining and Rulenye are very hard for the opponent to deal with if you play them early, but their power level skyrockets if you wait until your Faith is active. Because of this, deciding whether to force the opponent on the defensive early, or hold your cards for a massive combo later is a huge part of the strategy. Pay attention to what your opponent is doing to help you make the right choice!
Clear the Enemy's Followers and Heal with Fediel

Use Fediel, Darkness Personified to bring a Bat back to life, heal your leader with its Drain ability, and knock out enemy followers all at once. Just remember that a Bat must have been destroyed earlier in the match for this to work.
Play Armes and Force the Opponent to Deal With It

Armes is a terrifying follower that is incredibly hard to get rid of: she has the Aura ability, cannot be destroyed by spell effects, and automatically destroys any enemy follower she clashes with! If you super-evolve her, she can attack 3 times in a single turn, giving her the power to win the game instantly if the opponent can't stop her. You will definitely want to save a super-evolution point so you can safely unleash Armes.
After Unlocking Faith, Take Control and Deal Damage

Once your Faith is active, use your newly-upgraded Mode cards like Congregant of Entwining, Ginsetsu & Yuzuki, Twin Calamities, and Rulenye & Valnareik to take complete control of the field, constantly threaten the enemy leader, and force the opponent to use up all their best cards.
Save Up Your Damage Against Decks That Heal a Lot

If you are playing against an opponent who gains a lot of health, hold onto your Wings of Desire and Scream Diffusion cards instead of playing them right away. If you save them in your hand, you can cast two copies of Wings of Desire on a Scream Diffusion to blast the enemy leader for 10 damage without spending any play points.
After Saving Your Damage, Heal Up With Ginsetsu & Yuzuki or Gilnelise

By holding onto your damage cards like Rulenye, you can trick your opponent into playing all their followers at once. If you can punish them for overcommitting by dropping Ginsetsu & Yuzuki, Twin Calamities, you can completely wipe out their attackers while healing your leader and exhausting their resources. You'll win far more games once you master this careful dance between waiting patiently and striking hard.
Mulligan Guide for the Mode Abysscraft
Keep Cards That Build Your Faith
Castle of Entwining | Devotee of Entwining | Supplicant of Entwining |
Screaming and Loathing | Gran & Djeeta, Valiant Skyfarers |
You want to start using Mode cards as soon as the match begins, so hold onto cheap cards that have a Mode ability. Using Entwining cards is great because they can trigger a Mode twice. This helps you reach your goals much faster while letting you draw extra cards and deal with enemy followers at the same time.
Keep Winged Servants to Support Fediel

Make sure to keep Winged Servants, as it summons the Bat you’ll want to bring back to life later with Fediel, Darkness Personified’s special ability. If your Bat hasn’t been taken out of play yet, Fediel’s ability won't have anything to bring back, so always try to find and play Winged Servants well before you drop Fediel onto the field.
How to Counter the Mode Abysscraft
Play Followers Early to Drain Their Health

Start filling your side of the table with followers right from the first turn to slowly drain the opponent's health. In the middle of the game, they will start using powerful "Mode" abilities to build massive armies, so it is crucial to rush them down and win the game before they can finish setting up.
Keep Your Followers Above 3 Health

The opponent's cards, like Baal and Supplicant, will randomly shoot 3 damage at your team. Because of this, try to play followers that have 4 or more health so they survive the blast. You can also confuse their random targeting by playing a bunch of tiny, cheap followers (like Puppets) to act as human shields for your main attackers.
Watch for Bats to Identify Their Deck

If you see the opponent summon "Bat" followers using cards like Winged Servants, they are almost certainly playing a version of the deck focused on Fediel. This is great to know because Fediel decks almost never use the highly dangerous Cerberus card.
Overwhelm Their Defenses with a Massive Army

This specific Abysscraft deck struggles to destroy multiple large followers at once during the middle turns of the game. If you use cards like Norman or Garyu to completely fill the table, your opponent won't have enough spells to wipe you out, guaranteeing that some of your followers will survive to attack next turn.
Save Answers for Their Giant Armies

Eventually, the opponent will fill their own side of the table using terrifying cards like Congregant or Ginsetsu & Yuzuki. Make sure you save specific spells or abilities in your hand that can wipe out multiple enemies at once so you aren't caught completely off guard.
Never Leave Their Followers Alive

If the opponent hasn't played any Bats or Fediel, they are likely hiding Cerberus in their deck. If you leave even a single enemy follower alive on their turn, Cerberus will permanently power them up, and you will quickly be overwhelmed. Always try to destroy every single enemy follower to be safe.
Plan to Win Over Two Turns

Although this deck has many healing cards, they can usually only heal about 4 or 5 health in a single turn. Because of this weakness, you don't need to win in one massive attack. Instead, attack their leader enough so that even if they heal 5 health, you still have enough guaranteed damage in your hand to finish them off on your next turn.
