For the first Community Day of 2019, head out to catch Totodile, the starter water Pokemon of Gen 2, in the wild. Evolve him to Ferraligator within the Community Day to unlock a special and powerful move!

4x Incubator Effectiveness
Hatching Eggs will take less distance during the Community Day as Incubators will be 4x more effective! It's a good time to walk around and hatch some eggs.

Modules Last for 3 Hours
Modules will last for 3 hours each during the Community Day! One module will last for the whole duration of the Community Day so be sure to pop one on at the start of the event!
Possible Shiny Totodile Appearance
Shiny Totodiles are not currently available in Pokemon GO. It's possible that the Shiny Totodile will be implemented and can make its first appearance during this Community Day!

Hydro Cannon Is A Powerful Water Type Move
If your Feraligatr learns Hydro Cannon, it deals much stronger DPS than a Blastoise with the same move.

Hydro Cannon Can't Be Learned By TM
You cannot use a Charge TM to learn Hydro Cannon. It's best to evolve a Totodile into a Feraligatr during Community Day in order to learn this special move.
Cannot Be Learned When Unlocking 2nd Charge Move
Hydro Cannon cannot also be learned when you teach your Pokemon its 2nd Charge Move. You can only receive this special move by evolving a Totodile into Feraligatr during its specified hours.

Take note that you shouldn't evolve your Totodile when you are receiving a "GPS Signal Not Found" error. This may lead to your Pokemon not learning the special move even while it is still Community Day.
Correlation Of Totodile's CP & IV
CP Is Good For Great League
If you catch a Totodile that has CP of 580 or less, it can evolve into a Feraligatr with high enough CP to quality for the Great League Trainer battles!
Totodiles Hatched From Egg Cannot Be Used For Great League
Totodiles that players hatch from eggs and then evolve will probably have CP higher than the limits for the trainer battle leagues, so it's not recommended to use these Pokemon for battle.

Preparations For Community Day
Don't Put Eggs In Incubator Before Community Day
As much as possible, keep all your eggs outside of incubators before Community Day. Since all eggs placed in incubators will only take 1/4th distance to hatch, it's best to save your eggs for Community Day!
Choose A High IV Totodile To Evolve
Don't forget to favorite and keep high IV Totodiles that you have caught! Evolve them during Community Day and you'll receive a very strong Feraligatr with a special move - Hydro Cannon.
Collect & Save Many Ultra Balls

Save as many Ultra Balls as you can to increase your chances of catching Totodile. Keep turning Poke Stops & Gyms to receive as many items as you can before Community Day.

It's recommended to also collect as many Pinap Berries as you can before the start of Community Day. Using Pinap Berries on Totodile will increase the candy you receive when you capture it, allowing you to evolve it faster!
