The Obstacle Course in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time can be played at Lon Lon Ranch as an adult. You can't take it on until you've won Epona back from Ingo, so keep that in mind.

Clear by Jumping Over the Fences for 2 Laps

In the Ocarina of Time obstacle course, you clear it by jumping over the fences in the correct order for 2 laps. If you don't jump them in order, it won't count as a clear, so be careful.
Use the Whip Before Medium or Large Fences
The first fence after the start is short enough to clear at normal speed. However, you must use the whip before reaching the medium and large fences that appear later, as you won't have enough speed to jump them otherwise, so be careful.
Carrots Recover After a Set Time Once Used
When you use carrots, they will recover after a set amount of time. However, using another boost before the recovery process begins will reset the recovery timer, so careful timing is important. Manage your pace by using carrots consecutively during acceleration sections, then conserving them during sections where you need to wait for them to recover.
Stay Inside of the Course as Much as Possible
By keeping to the inside of the course, you can reduce the total distance traveled and improve your time. However, cutting in too sharply can cause you to approach the next fence at an angle, which may cause Epona to stop, so be careful.

Clearing the Obstacle Course in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time within 49 seconds gets you a Cow as a prize. The cow is delivered to your house (in Kokiri Forest), and playing Epona's Song while holding an Empty Bottle lets you obtain Lon Lon Milk.
