Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly Location

In Ocarina of Time, you can enter Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly by feeding a Fish to Lord Jabu-Jabu at Zora's Fountain and entering through his open mouth. You must progress through the Zora's Domain story first, so begin by heading east across Hyrule Field toward Zora's Domain.

Cross Hyrule Field to Zora's River

Ocarina of Time Route from Kakariko Village to Zora's River Map

After arriving at Kakariko Village, cross Hyrule Field and head to Zora's River. You can reach it from the northeast side of Hyrule Field.

You Can Get Din's Fire at the Great Fairy Fountain

Blow up the boulder beyond Hyrule Castle's gate with a Bomb to access the Great Fairy Fountain. Play "Zelda's Lullaby" in front of the fountain to obtain Din's Fire, though you don't need to get it at this point.

Follow the River Upstream

Once you reach Zora's River, make your way upstream. Since the current is too strong to swim against, destroy boulders with Bombs and carry a Cucco to glide across to the opposite side.

Carrying a Cucco lets you glide to areas containing Pieces of Heart. Since you can't climb ledges while holding a Cucco, throw the Cucco onto the ledge first, then climb up and pick it up again.

Buy Magic Beans from the Man by the Fence

Ocarina of Time Magic Beans

You can buy Magic Beans from the man standing by the fence in the lower part of Zora's River. They can be planted in certain spots and grow into platforms in the adult era seven years later, helping you obtain certain collectibles.

Play Zelda's Lullaby at the Waterfall

When you reach the waterfall at the end of the river, stand on the platform in front of it and play "Zelda's Lullaby." After playing it, the path behind the waterfall will open, allowing you to jump through.

Talk to the Zora on the Second Floor

After arriving at Zora's Domain, follow the path to the second floor. There is a passage to the left of King Zora's chamber, so talk to the Zora inside.

Get the Silver Scale from the Diving Game

Talk to the Zora and play the Diving Game. Collect all the Rupees scattered underwater before time runs out to clear it. Speak to the Zora again afterward to receive the Silver Scale.

Dive Where You See Bubbles

Reach Lake Hylia through the Underwater Tunnel

After obtaining the Silver Scale, jump from the waterfall in Zora's Domain and swim through the underwater tunnel to reach Lake Hylia. The tunnel is too deep to reach without the Silver Scale, so be sure to get it first.

Catch a Fish in the Shallow Water

Before heading to Zora's Fountain, catch a Fish in the shallow water of Zora's Domain. Fish can be found on the first floor, and you can catch one by using an Empty Bottle nearby.

Feed the Fish to Lord Jabu-Jabu

After catching a Fish, head to Zora's Fountain beyond where King Zora was sitting. Release the Fish from the bottle in front of Lord Jabu-Jabu to enter Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly.

Use the Slingshot to Hit the Ceiling Switch

When you enter Jabu-Jabu's Belly, there is a switch on the ceiling. Shoot the switch with the Slingshot to open the door ahead, then open the door and proceed forward.

Use Slingshot or Deflect Projectiles to Defeat Enemies

Common enemies in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Just after entering the Belly, an Octorok will appear. Deflect its projectiles with your shield to defeat it. Shaboms and Baris that appear along the way are flying and difficult to hit with your sword, so it is recommended to take them out with the Slingshot.

Follow the Path and Talk to Princess Ruto

Open the door and follow the path, and a cutscene will play where you meet Princess Ruto.

Fall into the Same Hole and Talk to Her Twice

There is a switch on the ceiling of the passage ahead. You cannot use the Slingshot while carrying Princess Ruto, so set her down first, then shoot the switch with the Slingshot and proceed.

Princess Ruto Can Also Press the Switch

You can also press the ceiling switch by throwing Princess Ruto at it. In addition to hitting switches, a well-aimed throw at an enemy will deal damage, so try throwing Princess Ruto when you want to attack from a distance.

Defeat Enemies and Ride the Moving Platform

There is an Octorok in the room ahead. Deflect its projectiles with your shield to defeat it. After defeating it, wait a moment for a platform to descend from above, then ride it.

Continue beyond Princess Ruto's Room

After the platform reaches the top, follow the path and you will arrive at the room where Princess Ruto was. There is a door at the far end, so advance while being careful not to fall into the holes.

Go Right and Press the Floor Switch

Go right past the door and press the floor switch you find there. Note that the switch will not activate unless you are carrying Princess Ruto.

Defeat the Enemies to Obtain the Boomerang

Z-Target to Hit Stingers Easily

Go Left and Place Princess Ruto on the Switch

After obtaining the Boomerang, head down the left path and place Princess Ruto on the switch ahead, then proceed forward. Leaving her here will not cause Princess Ruto to return to her original room.

Defeat the Tentacles to Get the Dungeon Map

There are tentacles past the door. Z-targeting and strafing sideways lets you dodge their attacks, so attack them with the Boomerang to defeat them. You can obtain the Dungeon Map from the treasure chest that appears after they are defeated.

Enter the Next Room to Obtain the Compass

After obtaining the Dungeon Map, defeat the Shaboms in the next room within the time limit to obtain the Compass from the treasure chest.

Use Boomerang while Z-Targeting to Defeat Them

Getting too close to a Shabom will cause it to attack you, so keep your distance and attack with the Boomerang while Z-targeting to defeat them within the time limit.

Jump into the Hole Behind the Tentacles

After defeating the green tentacle, head south through the central passage to reach the room where Princess Ruto was. The tentacle that was blocking the hole is now gone, so drop into the northwest hole while carrying Princess Ruto.

Advance from the Bottom and Battle Big Octo

- Attack with the Boomerang to stop its movement
- Once it starts spinning, attack it again
- When it stops and shows its back, attack its weak point
- Jump attacks deal damage efficiently

Attack Big Octo with the Boomerang to make it spin, then attack it again while it is spinning. This may cause it to stop and show its back, allowing you to attack it with your sword to deal damage.

How Big Octo Changes Direction

Big Octo changes direction when it bumps into Link. You will take damage, but attacking right when it changes direction from the collision lets you hit its weak point on the back.

Catching Up to Big Octo

By walking just within range of its spikes, you can catch up to Big Octo. When you close the distance, attack with the Boomerang to stop it, then attack its weak point.

Ride the Central Pedestal to the South after Battle

Heading south in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

After defeating Big Octo, step onto the central pedestal and it will carry you to the upper floor. Once on the upper floor, advance through the passage to the south.

Attack the Moving Platforms to Proceed

In the room at the end of the passage, there are platforms that move when you approach. Attacking a platform will stop it for a short time, so proceed while they are stopped.

Jump to the Far Shore and Descend

Follow the path to reach a room, then jump across to the far shore. After crossing, a platform will lower and you can descend.

Place the Northwest Crate on the East Switch

After descending, place the crate from the northwest onto the switch in the east passage. Once it is properly placed, open the door and proceed.

Use Boomerang to Hit the Switch above the Vines

Climb the vines on the east side of the room, Z-target the ceiling switch, and press it with the Boomerang. Defeat the Baris first to make Z-targeting easier.

Entering the north room triggers a battle with Barinade. First attack the ceiling tentacle with the Boomerang, then when it comes at you with a spinning Bari attack, attack the main body to stop it while taking out the Baris. Once all Baris are defeated, attack the main body.

Get the Heart Container and Warp after Battle

After defeating Barinade, pick up the Heart Container on the ground, then step into the warp point.

Obtain Zora's Sapphire after Warping

Destroy the rock to the southeast of Zora's Fountain to access the Great Fairy Fountain. Playing Zelda's Lullaby in front of the fountain will grant you Farore's Wind, though you do not need to obtain it at this point.

How to Defeat and Tips

Defeating the Barinade will require proper understanding on how the boss works. Follow the proper sequence of which to attack to be able to finish it off.

Use the Boomerang on Ceiling Tentacles

At the start of the boss fight, Barinade will be connected to the ceiling through its tentacles. Use your Boomerang to attack and detach the tentacles, and bring down its body to the ground.

Attack Main Body to Stop Jellyfish

Barinade will call forth Jellyfish that will circle its main body. Attack the main body to stop the Jellyfish movement, allowing you to destroy them.

Defeat All the Jellyfish Then Attack Body

Once you defeat all the jellyfish, the main body will move around and unleash intense electric attacks. Focus on the main body to stop its movement then strike it with your sword.

Focus on Dodging During Electric Attacks

The main body may burrow into the ground deal electric attacks. You cannot damage it in this state, so focus on dodging by strafing sideways instead.
