Up to Obtaining the Silver Gauntlets

Return to the Past

Ocarina of Time - Temple of Time
Prelude of Light
Prelude of Light in Ocarina of Time

The Spirit Temple must be cleared in both "childhood" and "adulthood." To start, you need to obtain the Silver Gauntlets, so head to the Temple of Time and return to your childhood. You can warp there by playing the Prelude of Light on your Ocarina.

Play the Requiem of Spirit to Fast Travel

Ocarina of Time - Spirit Temple Entrance
Requiem of Spirit
Requiem of Spirit in Ocarina of Time

Once you've returned to childhood at the Temple of Time, head into the Spirit Temple walkthrough. Playing the "Requiem of Spirit" will warp you near the entrance of the Spirit Temple.

Speak to the Gerudo Nabooru

Ocarina of Time - Nabooru

Once inside the Spirit Temple, you'll find the Gerudo Nabooru to the left at the far end. Talk to her and select "Never mind" and she will ask you to retrieve the Silver Gauntlets. Accept her request and head through the pit ahead.

The Boomerang Trivializes Armos

The nearby Armos are weak on their backs. You can use Bombs to defeat them, but hitting them with the Boomerang will stun them, making it easy to get behind them and attack with your sword.

Defeat All Enemies in the Room

Spirit Temple Walkthrough in Ocarina of Time

Defeat all the enemies in the room beyond the pit to open the door and proceed. Watch out for the spinning blades, and use your Slingshot or Boomerang against flying enemies.

Fire Keese can Burn the Deku Shield

If you have the Deku Shield equipped, getting hit by Fire Keese will cause it to burn away, so be careful. If you're worried, equip the Hylian Shield until you've defeated all the Fire Keese.

Proceed Through the Door on the Left

Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time

After defeating all the enemies, open the door on the left and proceed. Note that you can collect a Gold Skulltula in the room on the right, but you'll be coming back later, so there's no need to grab it now.

Defeat the Stalfos

Stalfos in Ocarina of Time

As you enter the next room, Stalfos will drop down from above — defeat them. Hitting them with the Boomerang will stun them, making it easy to create openings for attacks.

Use Boomerang on the Blocked Switch

Use the Boomerang to hit the switch behind the fence. Activating the switch will cause the fence to fall and become a bridge, allowing you to cross to the other side. Then head through the door on the far side.

Defeat Green Bubbles with Boomerang & Slingshot

Green Bubbles won't attack you, but they float in the air and can get in the way when you're aiming at the switch. If they're bothering you, hit them with the Boomerang to extinguish the flames, then finish them off with the Slingshot.

Defeat the Anubis and Proceed

Step ①Move to the opposite side of the room
Step ②Activate the switch with the Slingshot

In the next room, you need to defeat Anubis, which mirrors your movements. Anubis can only be defeated by fire, so lure it into position, then activate the switch to trigger the flames and defeat it.

Once defeated, the door will open — proceed to the next room.

Equip the Hylian Shield

Anubis attacks by spitting fire. If you have the Deku Shield equipped, taking a hit will cause it to burn away, so it's recommended to equip the Hylian Shield.

Using Din's Fire is Easiest

Ocarina of Time - Din's Fire

If you have Din's Fire, using it in the center of the room will easily defeat all the Anubis.

Collect 5 Silver Rupees

Collect all 5 Silver Rupees in the room to make part of the fence fall and become a bridge, allowing you to reach the other side. There's 1 behind a torch and 4 on the fence — grab them all.

Watch out for Floor Masters

As Navi will warn you, Floor Masters will drop from the ceiling in this room. Getting caught will send you back to the Dungeon entrance, so use their shadows to dodge them and defeat them quickly.

Light Both Torches

Use a Deku Stick to light the two unlit torches. Lighting them will make a chest appear — open it to obtain a Small Key. You can also light both torches by using Din's Fire between them.

Don't Forget the Gold Skulltula

Ocarina of Time - Gold Skulltula

There's a Gold Skulltula on the fence, so don't forget to defeat it. It's far away, but you can defeat it with the Slingshot and then retrieve the token with the Boomerang.

Enter the Pit and Head for 2F

Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time

Return to the room where you cleared out all the enemies, then drop into the pit in the center. Use the Small Key to open the door at the far end, then climb the wall to reach 2F.

Dispatch the Skulltulas Before Climbing

Ocarina of Time - Gold Skulltula

There are Skulltulas on the wall you need to climb to reach 2F, so it's safer to defeat them with the Slingshot or Boomerang before climbing. There's also a Gold Skulltula on the other side of the wall, so defeat it and collect the token after you climb up.

Activate the Switch to Obtain Bombchus

Ocarina of Time - Switch

In the room at the top of the wall, there is a switch mounted high on the wall. Activate it with the Slingshot or Boomerang and a chest containing Bombchus will appear. Open the chest and grab the Bombchus — you'll need them right away.

Lizalfos are Hiding in the Corners

Lizalfos in Ocarina of Time

Lizalfos will appear when you get close to the corners of the room. Hitting them with the Boomerang will stun them, so stop them in their tracks and then attack with your sword to take them down easily.

Use a Bombchu to Destroy the Cracked Wall

Bombchu in Ocarina of Time

Destroying the wall with a Bombchu will let light into the room, allowing you to proceed. Lock on to the wall before using the Bombchu to make it easier to aim.

Light the 2 Torches in Front of the Statue

There's a lit torch at the top of the staircase — transfer the flame to a Deku Stick and light the two torches in front of the statue. Lighting them will make a chest appear, letting you obtain the Dungeon Map.

Just like with the previous torches, if you have Din's Fire you can light both torches at once by using it in front of them.

Drop the Statue to Press the Switch

Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time

Return toward the entrance of the room and push the nearby statue off the edge. Activating the switch will open the door to the upper floor — head upstairs.

Collect 5 Silver Rupees

Silver Rupees in Ocarina of Time

Open the door and head up the stairs, and you'll be locked in a room with Silver Rupees. Just like before, collect all 5 Silver Rupees in the room.

Defeat the Beamos with Bombs first

There are 3 Beamos in the room that will fire a beam when they spot you, so use Bombs to defeat them first. They self-destruct when defeated, so lock on from a distance to avoid taking damage.

Light 3 Torches

Torches in Ocarina of Time

Collecting all the Silver Rupees will cause one of the torches in the room to light up. There are 3 remaining torches — use a Deku Stick to light them. Lighting all of them will make a chest appear, containing a Small Key.

Move the Sun Block Under the Sunlight

Ocarina of Time - Sun Block

Push the sun-marked block in the room to the spot where light is shining in. When the light hits the sun on the block, the door will open and you can proceed.

Use a Small Key to Access the Mini-Boss

Ocarina of Time - Gold Skulltula

Go through the opened door and you'll reach a room with a locked door. Use a Small Key to open it and head inside. The next room is a mini-boss battle against the "Iron Knuckle."

Note that there is a Gold Skulltula in this room, so be sure to collect the token before using the Small Key.

Defeat the Iron Knuckle

Iron Knuckle in Ocarina of Time

The mini-boss Iron Knuckle sits motionless in the room. It won't move until you approach, but the battle begins as soon as you attack it.

Evade Attacks with Back and Side Steps

Vertical swingDodge with a sidestep
Horizontal swingDodge by backstepping

It only has two attack patterns — a vertical axe swing and two horizontal axe swings — but both deal heavy damage, taking off up to 4 hearts in one hit. You can't block with your shield, so sidestep vertical swings and backstep horizontal swings to avoid taking damage.

Destroyed Pillars Reveals Hearts

Breaking the pillars scattered around the room will cause a large number of hearts to appear. The pillars break when hit by the Iron Knuckle's attacks, so lure the Iron Knuckle toward a pillar when you need to recover.

Obtain the Silver Gauntlets from the Chest

Ocarina of Time - Silver Gauntlets

Defeating the Iron Knuckle opens the door ahead, allowing you to exit outside. Open the chest outside to obtain the "Silver Gauntlets." That's all there is to the Spirit Temple during childhood — now return to adulthood and continue the walkthrough.

Push the Giant Block and Proceed

Ocarina of Time - Push Block

Once inside the Spirit Temple, push the giant block on the right side of the far wall and proceed. The Silver Gauntlets you obtained during childhood allow you to push heavy blocks.

Activate the Ceiling Switch with the Longshot

Ocarina of Time - Switch

In the room beyond the pushed block, there is a switch on the ceiling. Use the Longshot or Bow to activate it.

Note that there is a Beamos directly below the switch — it's recommended to defeat it with a Bomb beforehand.

Proceed Through the Door on the Left

Door in Ocarina of Time

Activating the switch will open two doors. Head through the door on the left first.

Defeat the Wolfos Inside the Room

Wolfos in Ocarina of Time

A Wolfos will appear shortly after you enter the room. There's an opening after the enemy attacks, so don't miss the chance and strike back.

Play Zelda's Lullaby on Top of the Royal Crest

Zelda

Stand on the Royal Crest displayed on the floor and play Zelda's Lullaby on your Ocarina. If done correctly, a chest will appear.

Use the Longshot to Reach the Chest

Chest in Ocarina of Time

You can't reach the chest by jumping. Aim at the chest and use the Longshot to get there.

Obtain the Compass from the Chest

Ocarina of Time - Compass

You can obtain the "Compass" from inside the chest. The room is a dead end, so once you have the Compass, head back to the previous room.

Up to Obtaining the Mirror Shield

Proceed Through the Door on the Right

Door in Ocarina of Time

Once you've obtained the Compass and returned to the room with the fork, this time proceed through the door on the right.

Collect 5 Silver Rupees

Silver Rupees in Ocarina of Time

Carefully avoid the rolling boulders and collect the 5 Silver Rupees in the room. Once you have them all, the door at the far end will open — head through.

Use the Hover Boots to Grab Floating Rupees

You can collect Silver Rupees floating in midair by using the Hover Boots. After landing, time your dash carefully so you don't get hit by the boulders.

Obtain a Small Key from the Chest

Chest in Ocarina of Time

Collect the Small Key from the chest in the center of the room. The Like Like in the room may steal your Hylian Shield or tunic if it hits you. You can reclaim your gear by defeating it, so make sure to kill it if that happens.

Backtrack Two Rooms and Unlock the Door

Door in Ocarina of Time

Once you have the Small Key, head back two rooms and use it to open the locked door in the middle and proceed. Climbing the wall beyond the door will bring you to 2F.

Rotate Mirror to Hit the Third Sun

Ocarina of Time - Mirror Light

Move the mirror in the center of the room to direct light at the second sun from the right, and a door will open for you to proceed. Directing light at the rightmost sun will cause enemies to appear, so rotate the mirror clockwise to avoid hitting the rightmost sun.

Watch Out for the Invisible Floor Master

Floor Master in Ocarina of Time

There is an invisible enemy (Floor Master) in the mirror room that will attack you. You can see it using the Lens of Truth, so defeat it before moving the mirror.

The Second Treasure Chest is a Trap

Ocarina of Time - Trap Chest

Directing light at the 1st and 2nd suns from the left will make chests appear. The leftmost chest contains a recovery heart, so open it if you need it.

Note that the second chest from the left is a trap — opening it will deal damage. It's fine to leave it alone.

Jump from 3F onto the Left Hand of the Idol

Once you reach the room with the idol, climb the stairs and jump onto the left hand of the idol. Depending on the angle, a regular jump may not reach, so it's recommended to jump while wearing the Hover Boots.

Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Royal Crest

Royal Crest in Ocarina of Time
Zelda's Lullaby
Zelda

There is a Royal Crest etched on the idol's left hand. Stand on it and play "Zelda's Lullaby" on your Ocarina. If done correctly, chests will appear in two locations.

Use Longshot on the Chest on the Other Hand

Ocarina of Time - Longshot Chest

Use the Longshot to move to the chest on the right hand. Opening it will give you a Small Key — once you have it, jump off the hand.

Use the Longshot to Return to the 3rd Floor

Ocarina of Time - Longshot Anchor

There is a Longshot anchor point on the east side of the map. Latch on and climb the stairs back up to the 3rd floor.

Defeat All 3 Anubis and the Beamos

Enemies in Ocarina of Time

Proceed through the locked door and you'll be trapped in a room with Anubis and Beamos. Defeat all enemies to open the door, then head through the door at the far end. Falling into a pit will cause defeated enemies to respawn, so be careful.

Defeat the Beamos with a Bomb first

Beamos in Ocarina of Time

Start by throwing a Bomb at the Beamos right in front of you to defeat it.

Anubs are Weak to Fire Arrows or Din's Fire

Anubis in Ocarina of Time

Anubis is weak to fire, so you can easily defeat it with Fire Arrows or Din's Fire. Using the flame mechanisms in the room is a bit tricky, so it's recommended to use your equipment instead.

You Can Utilize the Flame Mechanisms

If you don't have Fire Arrows or Din's Fire, you'll have to use the flame-triggering switches in the room to defeat the Anubis. Anubis "moves to mirror Link's position", so lure it carefully toward the flames.

Equipping the Hover Boots gives you more movement options and makes maneuvering easier.

Move the Armos to Press the Switch

The switch surrounded by 4 Armos is designed so that the door only stays open while the switch is pressed. Touching or attacking an Armos will set it in motion, so get an Armos to press the switch and then dash through the door.

Recover Hearts with Invisible Chests

Ocarina of Time - Invisible Chests

Beyond the door is a corridor leading to the next room, with 2 invisible chests in the center. Both contain recovery hearts, so open them if you need them.

Defeat the Iron Knuckle

Iron Knuckle in Ocarina of Time
Walkthrough Tips
・Two attack patterns: vertical axe swing or two horizontal swings
・Attack during the opening after the axe swing
・Destroying pillars causes a large number of hearts to appear

The mini-boss "Iron Knuckle" awaits in the back room, and combat begins when you land a hit. It's the same as when you fought it during childhood, so dodge the axe and then strike.

Obtain the Mirror Shield from the Chest

Ocarina of Time - Mirror Shield

Defeating the Iron Knuckle opens the door ahead. Proceed further to find a chest — open it to obtain the Mirror Shield.

Once you have the Mirror Shield, return to the room where you moved the Armos to press the switch.

Up to Defeating the Boss

Use the Mirror Shield to Redirect Light

Controls
Hold

Return to the room with the Armos and switch, and raise your Mirror Shield in a spot where light is shining. Adjust the angle of your shield to reflect the light onto the sun to open the door and proceed.

The Mirror Shield is used not just for blocking attacks but also for light-reflection puzzles — keep that in mind.

Obtain a Small Key in the Back Room

Chest in Ocarina of Time

There is a chest in the back room containing a Small Key.

Backtrack and Unlock the Door

Door in Ocarina of Time

Head back to the room where you defeated the Beamos and Anubis. There is a locked door there — use the Small Key to open it and proceed.

Defeat the 2 Beamos Before Proceeding

Beamos in Ocarina of Time

There are 2 Beamos in the room. They'll get in your way as you proceed, so defeat them with Bombs first.

Use the Longshot to Climb the Wall

Ocarina of Time - Climbing Wall

You need to climb a moving wall, but using the Longshot makes it easy. The topmost section of the wall doesn't move, so aim for that spot when using the Longshot.

Once at the top, head through the door at the far end. There's also a Beamos above, but since you only need to get through the door, you can ignore it and keep moving.

Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Royal Crest

Royal Crest in Ocarina of Time

Zelda

There is a Royal Crest on the floor in front of the door. Stand on it and play "Zelda's Lullaby" on your Ocarina. If done correctly, the door will open and you can proceed.

Battle the Boss Twinrova

Phase 1 Tips
■Fight against Koume (fire) and Kotake (ice)
■Reflect their attacks back using the Mirror Shield
┗Reflect one witch's attack into the other
■Don't lock on, as you need to manually aim your reflections

In the Twinrova battle, you need to reflect the enemies' attacks back at them using the Mirror Shield. There are 2 phases in total. In Phase 1, repeatedly reflect each witch's attack back into the other one.

Phase 2: Absorb Matching Attacks 3 times in a row

Phase 2 Tips
■Koume (fire) and Kotake (ice) merge into one
■Absorb the same type of attack 3 times in a row
┗Absorbing a different type will reset your count
■After 3 absorptions you can reflect the attack
┗Hitting the boss with the reflected attack will stun her
┗When stunned, move in close and attack with your sword
■There is only one enemy now, so locking on makes combat easier

Deal enough reflected damage and Twinrova will merge, transitioning to Phase 2. In Phase 2, you need to absorb the same type of attack 3 times in a row with the Mirror Shield. Be careful — blocking a different type of attack in between will reset you back to the beginning.

Collect the Heart Container and Warp

How to Defeat and Tips

To defeat Twinrova in Ocarina of Time, you need to reflect the boss's attacks using the Mirror Shield. In the second phase, you can reflect a powerful blast back by absorbing the same elemental magic 3 times in a row.

Reflect the Boss's Attacks with the Mirror Shield

Controls
Hold

In the Twinrova fight, you deal damage by reflecting the boss's attacks back with the Mirror Shield. There are two phases in total. In the first phase, you face two opponents: Koume (fire) and Kotake (ice). Reflect the magic fired by one sister and hit the other with it.

Fight Without Z-Targeting in Phase 1

In phase 1, you need to adjust the angle of the Mirror Shield to reflect the magic. Since Z-targeting locks the shield direction, make sure to turn it off and fight without targeting.

Reposition to Keep Both Enemies in View

Since you must reflect one sister's attack onto the other, keep moving to a spot where you can see both enemies at all times.

After Merging, Absorb the Same Element 3 Times in a Row

Once you deal enough damage in phase 1, the two sisters merge into Twinrova (phase 2). In phase 2, if you absorb the same elemental magic 3 times in a row with the Mirror Shield, you can fire it back as a powerful reflected blast. Focus on absorbing either fire or ice — whichever comes first — and block 3 consecutive hits of the same element.

Z-Targeting Is Easier in Phase 2

Since there is only one enemy in phase 2, you don't need to manually adjust the reflection angle. Using Z-targeting will automatically face you toward the enemy, making the fight much easier.

Dodge Attacks of an Element You Haven't Been Absorbing

Twinrova's attacks in Ocarina of Time

If you block a magic projectile of a different element than the one you have been absorbing with the Mirror Shield, your absorption progress will be reset. When a different elemental attack comes your way, dodge it and let it pass.

Watch Out — Attacks Linger on the Floor

When the boss's attack hits the floor, it remains as a damage zone for a short time. When dodging, be careful not to step near the impact point.

Attack with Your Sword When Twinrova Is Knocked Down

Twinrova in Ocarina of Time

When you land a reflected blast, Twinrova will be knocked down. Rush in immediately and deal damage with your sword. Twinrova will recover after a short time, so repeat the cycle: absorb the magic, reflect it, knock her down, and slash away.
