Dog Search Walkthrough
The dog search in Ocarina of Time can be completed by bringing the white dog found in Hyrule Castle Market to the house at the end of the back alley and speaking with the woman there.
Wait Until Night at Hyrule Castle
First, wait at Hyrule Castle until Night, when the dogs will appear. Note that waiting inside the Hyrule Castle Market will not cause it to become Night.
You Can Change the Time with the Sun's Song
You can change the time by playing the Sun's Song. The Sun's Song can be learned at the Royal Family's Tomb in Kakariko Village Graveyard, so it is a good idea to obtain it beforehand.
Approach the White Dog Near the Shop
Once it is Night, approach the white dog near the Shop. If other dogs are following you, the white dog will not follow, so if other dogs are following you, go to a different area or enter a building to make sure nothing is following you.
Head to the Back Alley with the White Dog
Once you confirm the white dog is following you, head to the back alley.
Enter the House at the Back
Enter the house at the back of the alley.
Talk to the Woman
Talk to the woman inside the house. This will complete the dog search sub-Event.
Dog Search Rewards
Obtain a Heart Piece
The reward for the dog search in Ocarina of Time is a Heart Piece. Since collecting 4 Heart Pieces increases your maximum life by one, be sure to actively collect them.
