How to Find the Mask Contest
From Kokiri Forest, enter the Lost Woods and follow Right → Left → Right → Left → Left. In the final area, look for the hole surrounded by yellow butterflies and fall into it to reach the Deku Scrub.
Mask Appraisal Contest Rewards
Increase Carrying Capacity With Masks

| Mask of Truth | Deku Nut carrying capacity +10 |
Showing the Skull Mask increases your Deku Stick capacity by 10, while showing the Mask of Truth increases your Deku Nut capacity by 10. These are the only Masks that provide permanent carrying-capacity upgrades.
How to Increase Carrying CapacityAdditional Random Reactions
After receiving the capacity upgrades, showing the Scrub other Masks results in different reactions. These result in 3 different cosmetic reactions, but do not provide any additional rewards.
Mask Appraisal Contest Notes
Missable Upgrades Bug
The Mask of Truth's Deku Nut carrying capacity upgrade becomes missable if you acquire the Poacher's Saw before completing the Mask Contest. Make sure to complete the Mask Contest before starting the Item Trading Quest for the Biggoron Sword.
No Way to Resolve the Bug
Even after giving away the Poacher's Saw, this bug will persist. So to be safe, you should complete the Mask Contest as soon as you can.

The Mask Appraisal Contest also known as the Mask Contest in Ocarina of Time is a hidden event where you show your Masks to the Scrub in the Lost Woods for rewards. It is unrelated to the main story, so you can skip it if you aren't interested in the upgrades.
Sub-Event ListHow to Unlock Masks
The Masks needed for the contest are unlocked by completing the Happy Mask Shop quest as Child Link. This sub-event becomes available after showing Zelda's Letter to the gatekeeper of Kakariko Village.
