Difficulty | Description |

Assisted | - Aim Assist - Recover a certain amount of health automatically - Enemies are a little weaker - Begin the game with an Assault Rifle - Receive more ammunition when crafting - Carry an additional 4 items - Difficulty can be changed |
Standard | - The Standard Game Mode - Difficulty can be changed to Assisted after a certain number of deaths |
Hardcore | - Stronger enemies - Ammunition and items are more scarce - Receive less ammunition when crafting - Getting bit twice by a normal zombie results in death - Difficulty cannot be changed |
Nightmare | - Unlocked after clearing game in Hardcore - Enemies deal much more damage and are tougher to kill - Enemy and item placements are changed - Difficulty cannot be changed |
Inferno | - Cleared after completed Nightmare - Even tougher enemies - No Auto save - Difficulty cannot be changed |
The Easier "Assist Mode" Is Available
An easier mode, the "Assist Mode" is included in the Remake. Similar to easy mode in the original, this mode has more ammo, lower enemy HP, an assault rifle at the start , and a new regenerating HP feature.

Depending on your difficulty, the amount of ammunition you get when you combine items will differ. Easier difficulties will reward more ammunition, and harder difficulties give out less.

The unique Ink Ribbon Saving system will not be utilized in this game. Therefore, players will be able to save as many times as they want as long as they have access to a save point or typewriter. keep in mind S rankings has a save limit of 5.
Different Enemy Placements For Higher Difficulty
In the Nightmare difficulty and above, most enemy spawns and location are greatly altered. Some tougher enemies appear early on and in nastier position like under stairs. Learn through trial & error to know enemy locations and seek out the best way to fight through the horde!

Recommended Difficulty: Standard
Standard is the recommended difficulty, even for new players of the series. This is because it gives just the right amount of suspense and tension due to the scarcity of resources and strength of enemies!

If you are having a hard time or just want to enjoy the game's story, you can switch to Assisted mode. Thankfully, Standard difficulty allows you to change difficulty when in the middle of your playthrough.
Change Difficulty In Standard
Keep in mind that Standard is the only difficulty which allows you to switch mid-game. However, you can only switch to a lower difficulty. Assisted will not allow you to make the game harder, and Hardcore won't let you lower the difficulty.
