How to Get Salt

Get Salt from Dead Corals

Subnautica 2 - Salt

Salt is most usually found attached to dead coral domes that have turned white. There are some exceptions where Salt can be found on the seabed, but in most cases, you'll find Salt on the backs of dead Coral Crabs, or along the large, white coral roots growing in the hot biomes.

Deposits Observed to Respawn

Similar to mineral deposits, Salt has been observed to respawn. Which means you can return to known Salt locations after some time. However, the exact mechanics and limitations of Salt deposits are currently unknown.

Salt Locations

Found in South Raceway Biome

Coordinates-300889,473420, -7006
LocationApproximately 500m Southeast of the Lifepod.

Salt is found in multiple biomes where the temperature is high. Look for dead corals that have turned white since Salt Deposits are often found attached to them. We recommend the South Raceway since this location has plenty of dead Coral Crabs with salt attached to their shells.

Found in North Raceway and Graveyard

LocationApproximately 380m Southeast of the Lifepod.

The area between the North Raceway and the Graveyard also have plenty of dead corals where Salt can be found. Although this location is patrolled by Marrowbreach, so it's generally more dangerous than the South Raceway.

How to Use Salt

Fabricate Power Cells for Vehicles

Subnautica 2 - Tadpole

Salt should primarily be used for creating Power Cells, which are used to power the Tadpole. Until you can create a Tadpole Dock for charging batteries, you'll need to secure a supply of Salt for creating Power Cells.

Fabricate Prepared Meals

Subnautica 2 - Prepared Meals

By mixing salt with fresh fish at the Fabricator, you can produce Prepared Meals. Compared to Cooked Food, Prepared Meals restore more Food, and depending on the meal, can even restore Health and Water.

Alternative Glass Production

Salt can also serve as an alternative ingredient for making Glass. In times when you cannot find Quartz, you can use a Procecssor to convert Salt into Glass for base building.
