Strengthen Units, Missions, and Commands During Expedition
During an Expedition, deployed characters automatically attack and advance. The funds required for upgrades are gained either by defeating enemies or gradually after unlocking missions. In the early game, it's recommended to enhance missions first, then invest in character enhancements if they're at risk of being defeated.
Major Enhancements Every 10 Levels
Characters, Missions, and Command can be significantly enhanced every 10 levels, granting a large boost at each level. When Reinforcing, focus on reaching these major enhancements.
Unlock Features in the Deployment Prep Screen
In the Deployment Prep screen before departure, you can unlock and upgrade units and various features. Prioritize the following:
♦︎ Unlock Units
Unlock Priority |
---|
- Kikoru Shinomiya★★★★★ - Iharu Furuhashi★★★★・ - Haruichi Izumo★★★★・ - Aoi Kaguragi★★★・・ |
Kikoru: Start by unlocking Kikoru, a powerful melee unit.
Others: After reaching around 200 km, long-range units become essential. It’s recommended to unlock either Iharu (high HP) or Haruichi (high ATK) first. Aoi lacks standout HP/ATK, so he can wait.
♦︎ Mission Optimization
Unlock Priority |
---|
- Automated Base Security★★★★★ - Automated Weapon Maintenance★★★★★ - Automated City Patrol★★★★・ |
By default, once a mission is unlocked you need to manually collect funds every few seconds. Turning on automation makes funds collect automatically, which is very convenient.
Automate Base Security and Weapon Maintenance as early as possible; once you have spare funds, automate City Patrol too.
♦︎ Enhancement
Unlock Priority |
---|
- Officer Manual★★★★★ - Misson Efficiency Support★★★★・ - Neutralization Reward Support★★★★・ |

Officer Manual: Unlocking Officer Manual allows you to upgrade units. When a unit’s rank increases from EXP gained at the end of an Expedition, you receive upgrade points (pink circles) to spend on enhancements.
You can upgrade during deployment by tapping the “+” on the unit icon (top-right). Upgrades cannot be done before deployment.
Supports: Unlocking Mission Efficiency Support and Neutralization Reward Support improves fund gain efficiency. Level both, but slightly prioritize Mission Efficiency Support.
♦︎ Dimensional Crystal
Unlock Priority |
---|
- Soshiro Hoshina★★★★★ - All Units Attack Boost★★★★・ - All Units Stamina Boost★★★★・ |
If you only want 1,000 Expedition Points per week, this isn’t mandatory. But if you aim to reach the furthest distance, unlocking Soshiro Hoshina should be top priority. Although it costs 400 Crystals, the value is absolutely worth it.
Farm Retreats to Farm Loot and Points

You can obtain loot when defeating bosses or finishing an Expedition. Activate loot by tapping “Collect Loot” on the right side of the screen. Make sure to do this frequently.
Loot effects are permanent and impactful, so repeat Expeditions to stack loot for reaching longer distances.
Strategic Retreat Between 165–250 km

At 165 km, you can unlock Strategic Retreat in the command tab. Retreating lets you bring back Command Rewards (exchange points), Expedition Points, and loot you’ve earned so far.
Don’t always push until defeat. Retreat strategically between 165–250 km to efficiently farm exchange points and loot while preparing to cover longer distances.
Pause Expeditions to Farm Idle Funds

At first, reaching 165 km can be difficult. Since normal play alone won’t generate enough funds for unit growth, make good use of Idle Funds.
You can pause and resume an Expedition at any time after starting it. Even when you leave the Expedition screen to play other modes, or when you close the app, Idle Funds will accumulate. Even if you don’t have time to play, start an Expedition and come back later. Resuming with a large pool of Idle Funds makes progression much easier.
Level Up Missions Before Going Idle

Idle Funds accrue based on the missions you’ve leveled before going idle. Level several missions first, then go idle for better returns.
Automation does not seem to affect Idle Funds, so it’s still beneficial to unlock and strengthen missions even if they aren’t automated yet.
Put Unnecessary Units on Standby

When your unit roster grows, you might sometimes feel frustrated if you don’t draw your main units at the start. In such cases, go to Deployment Prep > Unlock Unit tab > Unit Overview, and switch any units you don’t want to deploy into standby mode.
There is also an achievement called “Gamer’s Soul”, which requires reaching 500 km with only Basic Units. To attempt this, simply set all non-Basic Units to standby mode.
Best Strategies to Beat 295 km and Reach the Furthest Distance
The Fastest Way is to Deal Massive Damage with Tap Attack
From 295 km onward, the difficulty spikes sharply. Even if you raise all 2★ or lower units above level 200, they will barely scratch enemies. The conclusion is simple: your Tap Attack becomes the main cannon, while units play more of a supporting role.
Here, we’ll break down how to maximize Tap Attack damage, covering both preparation and execution.
Preparation 1: Soshiro or Gen is Practically Essential

Either Soshiro or Gen is practically required, with Soshiro being the recommended pick since he can be obtained for 400 Crystals.
In terms of performance, Gen is superior. However, unlocking him requires 10,000 Command Rewards, which takes a long time. A good approach is to first get Soshiro to efficiently farm points, then aim to unlock Gen afterward.
Preparation 2: Repeat Retreats to Strengthen Units and Farm Loot
By retreating repeatedly between 165–250 km, you can efficiently enhance your units while farming loot. Keep in mind that unlocking Officer Manual is a prerequisite for unit enhancement.
♦︎ Acquire the Loot “Precision Shooting”

This powerful loot adds 1-3% of all units’ ATK to your Tap Attack. When combined with high-ATK characters like Soshiro or Gen, it becomes devastating, enabling you to deal 100K+ damage per tap. Aim to farm this loot while strengthening your characters through repeated retreats.
That said, it’s a rare loot and not easy to obtain. If you can't get Precision Shooting, strengthen Tap Attack, CRIT Tap, and CRIT Tap DMG in the Deployment Prep → Enhancement tab instead. These upgrades won’t match the firepower of Precision Shooting and will also require a significant amount of enhancement points.
♦︎ Unit Enhancement
Upgrade Priority |
---|
- Attack Boost I (All Units)★★★★★ - Walking Speed Boost I (Soshiro & Gen)★★★★★ - Starting Level Boost I (Soshiro & Gen)★★★★・ - Tap Boost (All Units)★★★★・ |
Attack/Walking Speed Boost: Prioritize Attack Boost and Walking Speed Boost. Increasing walking speed shortens each run. Boost the speed of frontline melee units like Soshiro and Gen, but don’t bother with ranged units that trail behind. Instead, invest in Tap Boost.
Starting Level Boost: As 4★ units, Soshiro and Gen are costly to level up. Even at level 1, they are powerful enough, but raising Starting Level Boost improves consistency. With this, you should be able to pass the 165 km retreat line without constant manual input.
Tap Boost: Increases Tap Attack damage. Since Tap Attack is your primary source of firepower, raise this as much as possible.
That concludes the preparation stage. Next, let’s move on to practical strategies for clearing 295 km!
Execution 1: Go Idle After Starting to Save a Large Fund Pool
Simply playing straight to 295 km won’t give you enough funds to fully strengthen units and commands. Therefore, manually play up to around 100 km, raise mission levels as high as possible, and then go idle to accumulate funds.
Ideally, do this before going to sleep, so you can start the actual 295 km attempt the next day. To clear just 295 km, several tens of millions of funds will suffice. If you aim for 500–600 km or beyond, expect to need at least several tens of billions.
Execution 2: Focus on Leveling 4★ Unit
Since Precision Shooting boosts Tap Attack damage based on unit ATK, it’s best to focus on raising the levels of Soshiro and Gen, whose ATK values are exceptionally high. If you’ve collected enough loot, raising them to around level 100 will be sufficient. Otherwise, raising them above 150 is safer.
For lower-rarity units, it’s enough to spend leftover funds on skills like Support Attack or Rally, which indirectly help.
Execution 3: Level Up Support Attack and Rally

Once you’ve raised your 4★ units, focus on leveling Support Attack and Rally in the Command tab. Support Attack is effective for clearing mobs, while Rally boosts your Tap Attack damage.
The Tap Attack and Charge upgrades in the same tab are lower priority. The Tap Attack here only adds a small damage boost, so concentrate on Support Attack and Rally.
Boss Battle: Clear Mobs with Support Attack and Spam Tap Attack

When the boss fight begins, use two fingers to tap rapidly on the screen. If mobs are present, your Tap Attack may not land on the boss, so use Support Attack to clear them and keep focusing damage on the boss.
If you feel confident in your damage output, you don’t have to use Rally immediately. Since Rally has a cooldown of several minutes, it’s sometimes better to save it for attempts beyond 300 km instead of spending it early.
Current Goal Is 1500km
The current goal for the Kaiju No. 8 Expedition game mode is to cover 1,500 km. Future updates may extend this distance, but for now, that’s the target to hit.
Reference: Stats When Clearing 1500km
- Tap attacks for more damage
- Team composition: Kaiju No. 8, Hoshina, Narumi, and regular members
- Almost all Loot collected to the max
- Use idle funds to Enhance characters and missions
- Maximum character level is 314
Expedition Rewards
Exchange Neutralization Points for Items

Expedition Points can be exchanged in the shop for items, including limited rewards like "THE GAME Gacha Tickets" and "Stamina Recovery Agents". Aim for the weekly cap of 1,000 points to get them all.
Featured Items | Points Required | Exchange Limit |
THE GAME Gacha Ticket | 100/1 ticket | 5 times |
Stamina Recovery Agent | 50/1 item | 10 times |
Unit Part Materials | 20-40/1 item | 50 times |
Receive Idle Rewards
Stamina can be recovered through idle rewards in the Expedition. The higher your Special Task Rank, the longer the maximum accumulation time, allowing for extended idle periods.
[Recommended] Recover with Quick Collect
You can also recover Stamina using Quick Collect for Neutralization rewards. It's limited to 5 times per day, but even after 5 uses, it's more efficient than spending Dimensional Crystals, so it should be prioritized.
Times | Dimensional Crystals Required |
1st-2nd time | 20 |
3rd-4th time | 30 |
5th time | 50 |
