Squad Setup Guide and Tips
Build a Balanced Squad

When forming your party squad in Kaiju No. 8, balance between Attackers, Core Exposers, Supports, and Defenders is important. An unbalanced squad may struggle to achieve victory, even at high levels.
Example of a Balanced Squad
Slot 1 | Slot 2 | Slot 3 | Slot 4 |
Core Exposer & Attacker | Core Exposer & Attacker | Support or Attacker | Defender |
"Core Exposed," which breaks an enemy's Resistance, is a beneficial state that increases damage dealt and delays enemy actions. The key strategy is to back up Attackers who can inflict Core Exposed with Supports and Defenders.
Build a Squad that Exploit Weaknesses

Exploiting an enemy's elemental weakness can trigger 'Core Exposed', giving you advantages such as delayed enemy actions. Each stage lists the recommended element, so make sure to include it when forming your squad.
Manage SP Carefully
Using a character's Combat Skill consumes SP, which is shared by the entire party. If your squad consists only of characters who use Combat Skills every turn, you'll quickly run out of SP. Include characters who can easily generate SP to maintain balance.
Use Characters Suited for Each Stage
Enemy compositions vary by stage. Some feature a single giant-class boss, while others include multiple enemies. Tailor your squad for each stage, using characters who excel at single-target or multi-target combat as needed.
Battle Buddies and Benefits
Core Exposed Triggers Follow-Ups

When an enemy's resistances are fully broken and it becomes Core Exposed, the Battle Buddy of the character who triggered it performs a Follow-Up skill. Since the damage output of this attack depends on the character's ATK, try to trigger Core Exposed with your main Attacker's Battle Buddy whenever possible.
Maximize Follow-Up Damage
Some characters' Follow-Up skills trigger special effects. Using a Battle Buddy with a strong Follow-Up to cause Core Exposed lets you advance through battles more effectively.

Special Follow-Up & Squad Voice Lines
Setting up specific partner combinations triggers special follow-up and squad voice lines. While it doesn't affect battle performance, it's a fun feature to enjoy.
