How To Unlock Counseling

Unlock Ark City

To perform counseling, you first need to unlock Ark City, which becomes available after completing Chapter 2 Episode 01-2.

Visit Epione Center

Once the Epione Center is available, you can access Psychotherapy to counsel Combatants suffering from Deep Trauma.

Trigger Mental Affliction

Counseling is also available for Combatants who have a mental breakdown and don't recover during a chaos run. You can select the affected Combatant to start counseling immediately.

How Counseling Works

Communication Pass Required

Communication Passes are required to treat Combatants. Since the same passes are used for both Psychotherapy and Excursions, spending them on one will limit how many you can use for the other.

How to Increase Communication Pass

You can increase the maximum amount of Communication Passes you can have by 1 in the Research Facility by unlocking Active Research Effects with Research Notes.

When You Can't Use Counseling

You cannot use Counseling once you’ve reached your daily limit or if you don’t have any Communication Passes. Keep in mind that Communication Passes are also required for Excursions, so you’ll need to plan ahead and decide how to use them each day.

Counseling Daily Limit

By default, you can participate in 3 Counseling Sessions per day, which can increase to 4 once you unlock the Unofficial Excursion Permit node in the Research Facility. Also, the Communication Passes refresh daily at 18:00 UTC.

Counseling Records

Counseling Records track therapy sessions for each character. Each successful session is logged and gives bonus crystals for the first few sessions per character.

Counseling Uses & Benefits

Recovery Treatment

Combatants develop abnormal mental states when affected by a Mental Affliction. Counseling can help treat Combatants suffering from Deep Trauma. Mental Afflictions negatively impact a character's performance in missions or battles.

Avoid Save Data Loss

If a Combatant is severely psychologically damaged, their save data is lost and automatically converted into Corrupted Data.

Increase Affinity

When you successfully treat a traumatized character, their Deep Trauma status is removed and their affinity level increases.

Obtain Crystals

You can also obtain Crystals as a reward for unlocking new counseling records. Helping Combatants recover from Deep Trauma in the Epione Center rewards you with Crystals, in addition to restoring their mental health and increasing affinity.

What is Counseling?

Counseling allows you to restore characters who have suffered from Deep Trauma or mental breakdowns during runs.
