Instead of heading directly to the destination, Hateno Ancient Tech Lab, you should go southeast of Kakariko Village to activate Hateno Tower first, which can unlock the map of the surrounding area, making your destination clear and not to get lost.

You Need To Come Up With A Strategy To Climb Up Hateno Tower

Hateno Tower

Hateno Tower is covered in thorns, so you can't climb straight to the top. It'd be easier if you burn them with fire weapons or equipments.

An Example of How To Burn Thorns
・Place Woods and Flint near the thorns and hit with an iron weapon.
・Cut the thorns with a fire weapon (Fire Rod also works)
・Hit the thorns with Fire Arrow or Bomb Arrow

Wood can be obtained by destroying trees and flint can be obtained randomly by destroying ores. These materials can be easily obtained in the early stage, try to get them while moving.

You Can Climb The Tower Without Burning The Thorns

You can climb without lighting a fire

You can climb the tower without burning the thorns if you go through the scaffolding as shown in the image above. However, it is troublesome to find scaffoldings, so it is highly recommend to burn the thorns before climbing.

Paragliding To Hateno Ancient Tech Lab

Paraglider from Hateno Tower to Hateno Ancient Tech Lab

The destination Hateno Ancient Tech Lab is located east of the Hateno Tower and can be easily reached by Paraglider from the top of Hateno Tower. If you haven't boosted your stamina, you might need to get off the Paraglider and walk to your destination.

Activate Myahm Agana Shrine

Myahm Agana Shrine is located in Hateno Village, activate it to add a new warp point.

Get The Torch At The Hateno Ancient Tech Lab

Get Torch at Hateno Ancient Tech Lab

▲Once you got the Torch, it will respawn whenever the Red Moon occurs.

Talking to Purah at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab will trigger a mission to ignite a blue flame. You will need a wooden weapon to carry the blue flame, so get the Torch in advance in the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.

Carry the Blue Flame To the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab

Carry the blue flame to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab

Accrording to Purah's instruction, carry the blue flame with a wooden weapon such as a Torch, from the edge of Hateno Village where the blue flame is ignited to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.

Notes On Carrying the Blue Flame

  • Falling into water extinguishes the fire.
  • Running (press B) extinguishes the fire.
  • Using Runes extinguishes the fire.
  • Wooden weapons other than Torch will be destroyed over time.

Basically, the fire will go out if you do any action other than walking. Also note that igniting the flame on a wooden weapon other than a Torch will reduce the weapon's Durability and eventually destroy it. Lighting the Blue Flame Pedestals along the way will make you easier to reignite when the flame goes out.
