How To Counter Heat & Cold

Check The Necessary Measures With A Temperature Gauge

StatusRequired Action
ColdnessUse Cold Resistance (Cold Resistance)
Heat Use Heat Resistance (Heat Resistance)
FireUse Fireproof (Fire Resistance)
NeutralAppropriate Temperature

You can determine which measures are necessary based on the temperature by using Link's Temperature Gauge. When the needle moves to the left or right of the red or blue sections, some sort of action needs to be taken. Be careful not to leave it unattended without taking countermeasures, as it can cause damage to Link.

Shock Resistance

Equip Armor That Has A Resistance Effect

Equipped with armor with guard effect

You can protect yourself from the heat and cold by wearing armor with the corresponding temperature resistant effects. When visiting a city to unlock the divine beasts, it's recommended to stop by the armor shop as most of the armor you need in that area will be available.

Armor That Can Be Used For Each Countermeasure

Countermeasures Armor
Cold・Snowquill Set Equipment
・Ruby Circlet
・Warm Doublet
Heat・Desert Voe Set Equipment
・Gerudo Set Equipment (Set Effect)
・Sapphire Circlet
・Island Lobster Shirt (DLC)
Fire (Fireproof)・Flamebreaker Set Equipment

Make Food Or Elixir Using Corresponding Ingredients

Use corresponding foods and Elixir

By cooking with the suitable ingredients or consuming elixirs, heat and cold can be prevented. Elixirs lasts longer than armor, so it can be a temporary solution until you acquire the proper armor to withstand the temperature.

Materials Required For Each Countermeasure

It's Also Possible To Take Countermeasures Using Weapons With Elemental Attributes

In addition measures can be taken using terrain and attribute weapons

If you equip a weapon with a flame attribute, your cold resistance level will increase by one. It's possible to use weapons with elemental attributes to protect against the cold or heat. Additionally, using terrain features such as submerging in water at an oasis in a desert region can aid in coping with high temperatures.

Difference Between Heat Resistant And Fireproof (Flame Guard)

Fireproof Is For Volcanic Areas While Heat Resistance Are For Deserts

The heat is the desert area, the heat is the volcanic area

▲In the volcanic area, the Temperature Gauge is shaking off and burning.

Desert regions will inflict damage on you because of the intense heat, while volcanic regions will cause damage from flames. Keep in mind that the Desert Voe Set, which provides heat resistance, cannot protect you from the heat in volcanic areas. Similarly, the Flamebreaker Set cannot shield you from the heat in desert regions, so make sure to take note of this.

Wooden Weapons Will Catch Fire In Volcanic Areas

Wooden weapons burn in volcanic areas

In volcanic areas, wooden weapons will ignite and burn. If you use them as they are, they will eventually break. It's best to switch to iron equipment when exploring these areas.

Even Materials And Arrows Will Burn

Materials and arrows also burn

Some of the materials that come out when you defeat an enemy will catch fire and burn if left unattended. Also, the Arrow when shooting a Bow will naturally catch fire at the tip. Be careful, because the bomb arrow will explode the moment you shoot it.

Lava Cannot Be Prevented With Flame Guard

Lava cannot be prevented with Flame Guard

The Flame Guard effect alone is not enough to prevent damage from lava in volcanic areas. To prevent damage from lava and other fiery hazards, you need to upgrade Fireproof Armor to Level 2 and activate the Fireproof set bonus. However, even with Fireproof, be careful not to enter the magma area.
