What Is Hero's Path?
Feature Added In The First DLC
Hero's Path Mode is a new feature added in the DLC (Expansion Pass). Note that it cannot be used without purchasing the DLC first.
DLC 1: The Master TrialsYou Can Record And View Your Movements For The Past 200 Hours
In Hero's Path Mode, you can check the places and paths that Link has traveled since they will be recorded and displayed. It also has an impressive feature in which it can record a huge amount of data with up to 200 hours of gameplay. You can even go back and view your earliest records, which can be a surprisingly interesting experience.
Does Not Include Time Spent On Inventory And Menus
Opening the inventory or menu is not recorded in the Hero's Path Mode as time does not pass during those moments. The feature only records Link's movement, so even after playing for over 200 hours, the records may not be completely filled.
You Can Also See Traces Of Where Link Has Died
You can also confirm traces of where you have died during your adventure. A red cross mark appears to indicate where Link has fallen. If Link has been defeated multiple times in a row, you can see a series of death markers accompanied by his final cries.
This can be an interesting point to check. Looking at the image above, it seems that the author had fallen off a cliff and died shortly after starting the game from the resurrection shrine.
It's Easier To Find Unexplored Areas
The map marks your exploration path, making it a easy to spot uncharted territories. The field is vast beyond measure and there may be only few who have fully explored its expanse. Nevertheless, venturing into the unknown is an adventure in itself and can be an enjoyable pursuit.
How To Use Hero's Path Mode

Hyrule Walkthrough & Map GuideYou Can Hide Shrines And Other Icons By Switching The Display With The Y Button
Pressing the Y button allows you to toggle the icon display, enabling you to hide icons such as shrines and towers. This feature is also useful for removing custom tags you may have placed, making it easier to view your movements without obstruction.
The Playback Speed Changes With Map Zoom
Regardless of whether it is set to automatic or manual playback, the playback speed changes with the zoom level of the map. Even when the maximum playback speed is selected with the speed switch, which is represented by the ▶▶▶ icon, the speed still varies depending on whether the map is zoomed in or out. To slow down playback, zoom in the map while zooming out will speed it up.
