What Is Move Growth?

Power Up Your Moves

Power Up Your Moves!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX uses a unique system of leveling up your moves to make them stronger and more useful in battle! The more you use a certain move during dungeon exploration, the stronger that move becomes!

Increase the Move's Stats

When a move powers up, its stats will increase. These stats include the move's Power, Accuracy, & PP! You will be able to hit enemies more consistently, deal more damage, and use the move more times before needing to restore its PP!

Measured By Move EXP Gauges

Measured By Gauges

You can check out the move's progress by looking at the small gauges next to a move! You can do this by checking the message log when using a move, or by pressing ZL when exploring a dungeon!

Move Growth & Move EXP Tips

Move Growth Is Shared By the Team

Move Growth Is Shared By the Team

The amount that a move grows will be shared by a team! This means that if you recruit a Pokemon with the same move, its move will be as strong as your other Pokemon.

Step On Power Up Tiles

Move Growth Up Tile

Look for yellow/green/blue tiles like the one above in dungeons. Always step on them, as they will provide you with a temporary boost to move growth!

↑ An exclamation mark will appear over the head of Pokemon affected by this buff.

Use the Same Move to Power Up Moves Fast

Since the Move EXP earned is shared by all Pokemon, you can opt to create a team of Pokemon with the same move & keep using the move to quickly power them up!

Prioritize Multi-Hit Moves

Fury Attack

Multi-hit moves (like Fury Attack) are extremely powerful in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, so it's really worth it to start leveling them up from the beginning of the game. Also make sure to give them maximum PP Ups & Accuracy Ups too! AoE moves like Razor Wind or Discharge are also good choices.

Power Up Moves in the Makuhita Dojo

Alternatively, you can opt to power up your moves by using the Makuhita Dojo. The growth rate of the move is boosted, but you will need to spend a Dojo Ticket to use!
