Wish Cave - How to Unlock & Overview

Jirachi Lies At The Bottom Of The Wish Cave

Jirachi

If you're able to make it all the way to the 99th floor of this challenging dungeon, the legendary Pokemon Jirachi will be waiting to take you on!

Clear The Main Story

The first thing you'll have to do is complete the main quest of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX! Until you do this, you won't be able to access this dungeon.

Unlock Through The Ekans/Medicham Quest

Ekans Quest

First, you'll have to complete the Buried Relic dungeon, which is accessible after the Stormy Sea, where you get Kyogre. After this, visit Whiscash's pond to the north regularly until you see Medicham and Ekans talking. Keep coming back there every day to make the quest progress! It won't happen in just one day!

Pick Up The Quest From The Bulletin Board

Ekans Quest

Eventually, you'll see Ekans jumping up and down near the Bulletin Board & a quest will be available for you to pick up. This will require you to go the 20th floor of Wish Cave! You'll need to do this before you can continue scaling to the 99th floor and face Jirachi!

Start At Level 5

Wish Cave Lvl 5

This dungeon is different from most regular ones in that your Pokeon will start at level 5 and won't know their usual moves! This means that the only preparation you can do is to select good Pokemon and bring powerful items.

B1F ~ B99F (vs. Jirachi)

B1F ~ B99F Walkthrough

1Enter the dungeon and fight your way down to B99F
2(First time through only) Rescue Medicham on 20F
3Defeat Jirachi

Rescue Medicham On 20F

Medicham Rescue

Your first time through the dungeon, you'll have to stop after the 20th floor, as you'll complete the rescue Medicham quest. Use this as a warm-up to get a feel for the dungeon.

Wish Cave - Battle Tips

Replace Low Level Teammates

Replace Low Level Teammates

Since the level of enemy Pokemon will be steadily rising as you progress through the dungeon, teammates you recruited on the first 10 floors simply won't cut it later on. try to regularly recruit new Pokemon as you move through the cave! Use the Friend Bow to increase your chances of recruiting Pokemon.

Check Out How To Get The Friend Bow Here!

Replace Moves With No PP

Your Pokemon will be leveling up as they defeat foes in this dungeon, which means you'll be learning new moves as well. Think carefully about which moves you'll replace:

Keep PriorityType Of Move
HighMulti-hit moves, Paralysis, AoE moves
MediumDef lowering moves, 2+ tile attacks, STAB 1 tile attacks
LowNon-stab duplicate type 1 tile attacks

Recommended Pokemon: Ghost & Dark

There are a wide variety of Pokemon in this dungeon, so there isn't any one type that will be perfect. Bring whatever Pokemon you think will have good moves by the time you reach the end (you'll probably in the mid to late 20s at that point). However, Jirachi is weak to Ground, Ghost, Fire, and Dark, so consider bringing (and recruiting) some of those.

Have Pokemon with Small Stomach

Hunger works the same in Wish Cave, so the usual tip of bringing a rare quality to deal with Hunger still applies. Consider Small Stomach, which will allow you recover your hunger fully by eating ANY item, including seeds.

Recommended Items to Bring

ItemUse
X-Ray SpecsWill let you see enemies on the map. Great for planning out how you move in a floor. Great for seeing monster rooms
Google SpecsLets you see traps. Great for seeing monster rooms
ApplesRecruit fainted Pokemon or use to regain stamina. Only use Big Apples for regaining Stamina
Revival ItemsRevive Seeds should only be used on Main Pokemon. Have 3-4 Revive All Orbs, but use them only when needed
Crowd-Control ItemsPetrify Wands and One-Shot Orbs are your last resorts to survive
Max ElixirsWill recover PP for a Pokemon. Use it only when the PP is at 0-1
