Master Kohga Strategy Guide

Tips To Defeat Master Kohga

  • Use Arrows or Remote Bombs to stun him.
  • Each of the 3 phases has its own means of stunning the enemy.
  • You don't have to use a powerful weapon.
  • Take a Picture.

Learn How To Stun Each Phase

In the battle against Master Kohga, he attacks in three patterns depending on the remaining HP. Each of them has its own way of dealing with it, and by doing so, you can stun him.

Carry More Arrows

You can use arrows to stun him in the first and second phases. It'd be better to bring a certain number of arrows in advance.

There Is No Need To Use Strong Weapons

Since you can greatly reduce his HP while he is stunned, there is no need to reduce the durability of your powerful weapons. The way to beat him is patterned, so it is fine if you don't have many strong weapons.

This Is The Only Time You Can Fight Master Kohga

This is the only time that you can fight Master Kohga during one gameplay. Master Kohga also can be registered in the Hyrule Compendium, so if you are collecting them, don't forget to take a picture.

How To Defeat Master Kohga's First Phase

Attack With Arrows While The Ball Is Above You

Attack with Arrows while the ball is above you

After Master Kohga creates a blue barrier, a ball will appear above his head, attack it with arrows during this period. If you hit it, the ball will hit Master Kohga himself and he'll be stunned.

Aim For The Moment The Blue Barrier Disappears

When the blue barrier is in place, attacks are disabled. The blue barrier disappears at the same time as the ball shows up, so attack when the barrier disappears.

Remote Bombs Can Also Stun Him

Not only arrows but also Remote Bombs can stun the enemy. If you want to save your arrows, use Remote Bomb.

He Will Run Away If You Get Too Close

In the First Phase, if you get too close to Master Kohga, he will run away. If he runs away, you will not be able to drop the ball on his head, so try not to get too close to him.

If You Can't Make It In Time, Try To Escape

The ball will fly toward Link after a certain time, if you don't have enough time to aim your bow or throw a Remote Bomb, try to escape.

How To Defeat Master Kohga's Second Phase

Attack When The Balls Are Above Master Kohga

Attack when the balls are above Master Kohga

In the Second Phase, two balls circle around Master Kohga in a counterclockwise direction, and after a certain time, the balls will fly toward you. If you attack at the time when the balls are directly above Master Kohga, the balls will fall on his head and stun him.

Again, You Can Inflict Damage With Remote Bomb

In the Second Phase, you can also use the Remote Bomb to inflict damage, so if you want to save Arrows as in the First Phase, attack with the Remote Bomb.

How To Defeat Master Kohga's Third Phase

Grab The Ball With Magnesis And Attack Twice In A Row

Grab the ball with Magnesis and attack twice in a row

From the Third Phase, Master Kohga will manipulate a large iron ball to attack Link. Grab the iron ball with Magnesis, destroy Master Kohga's barrier, and then hit Master Kohga with the iron ball.

Hit Him As Soon As The Barrier Is Removed

Since the barrier will be restored immediately after being destroyed by the iron ball in one hit, you have to hit the iron ball twice in quick succession. It is easier to hit the target in quick succession if you move the ball back and forth horizontally.
