What Are Shamblers?
New Infected That Emits Gas
Shamblers are a new type of Infected introduced in The Last of Us 2. They look like Bloaters but are comparatively weaker. However, their lack of strength is compensated by their capability of emitting noxious gas that melts those around them.
Can Be Found In Wet Areas
Shamblers can often be found wandering wet or drenched areas such as the flooded Seattle Subway Tunnels and the abandoned ship in The Coast.

Unlike the one-hit kill Bloater, the Shambler is vulnerable to melee attacks and its attacks can be evaded. Although do remember that you cannot stealth kill them!
How To Beat Shamblers & Tips
Tips Overview
- Blow them away with Shotguns
- Use Explosives or Molotovs
- Use hit and run tactics
- They have weak eyesight
Best Weapon: Shotgun
Both Ellie and Abby's shotguns are capable of blasting through the Shambler. Note that it takes about 2 shots from a shotgun to down a Shambler.

Use Explosives & Molotovs
Shamblers are very weak against fire and crafted explosives. Use them to your advantage and try to lure groups of them together by throwing a bottle or brick first then following up with an explosive.

The Shambler can be outmaneuvered as it is quite slow. You can swoop in to attack, bait it to release a cloud, then run away at the last moment. You can also use ledges and elevated positions as they have a hard time navigating through them.
Shamblers Have Weak Eyesight
If you want to save ammo and resources, you can simply skirt through Shamblers as they can be fooled with bottles and bricks. They also have a hard time seeing the player as you need to be almost beside them in order for them to notice you.
