Upgrade Priority & Recommended Upgrades

The weapon upgrades you want to invest, ultimately boils down to your preference. However, here are some items we found useful that you may use as a reference when choosing which weapon / upgrades.

Recommended Upgrade Priority

Semi-Auto / Military Pistol★★★★
Pump / Double Barrel Shotgun★★★★
Revolver / Hunting Pistol★★★☆
Bow / Crossbow★★☆☆
Bolt-Action / Semi-Auto Rifle★☆☆☆

The table above recommends the sequence or the priority of upgrades as Parts are quite limited in the game. Note that spreading the upgrades and not concentrating on only one weapon also helps in the long run as you can change weapon depending on your ammo reserves.

Semi-Auto & Military Pistols

Ellie

Handguns in the game greatly benefit from an increased ammo capacity. As there are multiple occasions in which you will be attacked by multiple enemies, having a large capacity helps in pulling off quick headshots. This is true from the start to the end of the game, so get this upgrade during the early stages if you have the Parts.

Shotgun & Double Barrel Shotgun

Ellie

A deadly close range weapon needing no introduction, the Shotgun can be grabbed relatively early on in the game while packing a punch, perfect for taking down tougher enemies. Upgrading the Damage will allow you to increase the already impressive damage output of these guns.

Revolver & Hunting Pistol

Ellie

These 2 weapons suffer from low capacity and excruciatingly long reload times. However, they have decent accuracy and good damage to compensate for that. Try to prioritize getting their damage up first and then reload times. Having these as reserve once you run out of ammo for your high-power weapons is recommended.

Bow & Crossbow

Abby

Perfect for silent takedowns and having great ammo economy thanks to being able to recover arrows, the Bow are very useful weapon for all mid-range engagements. Upgrading these weapons for Draw or Reload Speed will further help taking down enemies safely.

Bolt-Action & Semi-Auto Rifle

Abby

These guns have innately high firepower backed with decent accuracy. They can be left at their base levels without any upgrades and they would still be highly effective in battle. They can be replaced with the better weapons in certain situations. Leave these guns' upgrades for later.
