What Are Stalkers?
Stealthy Infected
Stalkers are a type of Infected that track and ambush their targets, hence their name. They usually hunt in packs and are likely to lie in wait to pounce at their prey at the right moment.
Hides From Listen Mode
While not completely invisible, Stalkers are good at hiding from your Listen Mode. Be wary of any movement or sounds and use noise to your advantage when determining their locations.
Read The Listen Mode Guide Here! Can One-Hit Kill You
As Stalkers tend to hunt in groups, getting caught by one of them can be disastrous as it signals others to gang up on you. Getting caught by one from behind can spell a quick death regardless of your remaining health.
First Encountered In Hillcrest
The very first Stalker that you'll encounter is in Hillcrest. In a garage, Ellie gets ambushed by a Stalker and successfully passing the QTE event rewards Ellie with the Bow.

In Abby's "Ground Zero" chapter, the Rat Boss spawns and splits a Stalker that continuously harasses the player during the boss fight. It acts as a normal Stalker but throws smoke projectiles to disrupt the player's movements.

Tips Overview
- You can also ambush Stalkers
- Draw them out with Bottles & Bricks
- Use dead-ends & hallways to funnel them
- Cover your rear & flanks with Trap Mines
- You can fight them in melee
Stalk The Stalker
You can flank and catch Stalkers unaware if you're careful. You can even grab them for melee kills! Know their positions and walk slowly to effectively pull this off!
Flush Them Out With Bottles & Bricks
You can kill Stalkers by flushing them out of their positions. Throw bricks or bottles to force them to move and gather. Followup with a quick Molotov to kill them.

If you try to throw bricks and bottles again after using one to draw them out, Stalkers might figure it out and will stay in their position instead. They may also refuse to be tricked if they know your current position.
Use Dead-Ends & Hallways To Funnel Them
You can establish a kill zone by deliberately putting yourself at at corner or at a dead-end. Then make some noise to rile up the Stalkers and you can shoot them down as they run towards you. Just make sure you have enough ammo before you do this.
Cover Flanks With Trap Mines
Cover your flanks by planting mines whenever you move forward. Stalkers tend to approach you from the behind or from the sides, so leaving some traps may eliminate those that attempt to ambush you. Remember that you can always recover unexploded mines.

Mines are very effective against the Stalkers. Make good use of them by placing them at crossroads or entry points to kill those that attempt to flank you.
Can Be Fought In Melee
Unlike Clickers that can kill you with a single hit, the Stalkers can be fought with melee weapons. You can also use your fists if you run out of tools to fight them.
Be Wary Of Other Stalkers
Fighting in melee alerts other Stalkers to your position. Even if you win your initial battle against a Stalker, others might pounce from behind and kill you with one hit. Be sure to use weapons instead after a dodge to quickly dispatch of Stalkers.
