The Hunting Pistol is a very powerful pistol that can only hold one bullet at a time, requiring constant reload after each shot. It can fell most foes with a single shot, so best use this when you're at a safe distance to compensate for the reload times.
Can Be Used To Snipe
Despite being a handgun, the Hunting Pistol can be equipped with a 4x Scope, making it possible for you to hit targets from afar.
Bullets Are Craftable
You can craft ammo for the Hunting Pistol, allowing you to be constantly armed with a decent ranged weapon throughout your playthrough as Abby. You need to unlock the Firearms Upgrade Branch to craft ammo for the Hunting Pistol.

4x Scope Goes Last
While you can use the Hunting Pistol as a reliable long distance gun, getting the Scope for the Crossbow is better. The reason for this is that the Crossbow is innately silenced and does not alert enemies when fired.
