Attributes, Skills, & Perks Guide

A Tiered Character Progression System

Attributes The main 5 stats which determine the direction your character grows in.
Skills Subsections of attributes which can be leveled up by using them. Each attribute has a predetermined number of skills.
Perks Subsections of each skill. Spend points to unlock new active and passive perks that influence your gameplay.

Character progression in Cyberpunk 2077 can be somewhat complex and confusing, but it's best to think of it as a 3-tiered system. At the top you have the 5 Attributes. Each Attribute has a certain amount of Skills. Each skill contains within it a large amount of Perks.

Attributes consist of 5 main stats which have a huge influence on your character's abilities and gameplay. You'll be able to put these points into a total of 5 different attributes when you create your character for the first time, but you'll also gain more points to spend as you level.

Perks are the lowest subsections of this character progression system. They are all contained within a specific skill, and are unlocked by spending Perk Points (also gained on level up). Perks will form a tree, meaning more powerful perks will often be locked behind prerequisites. These will provide you with various powerful effects.

Ways To Power Up Your Character

Gain Points By Leveling Up

Whenever you level up, you'll gain additional Attribute and Perk points! This means you'll be able to constantly adjust and customize your character as you progress through the game.

Raise Your Skill Proficiency

Every time you perform a skill-related action, such as using a gun or melee weapon, you will gain skill points. This means that the more you use something, the better you'll get at it!

Distribute Perk Points

Each of your skills will have its own special Perk tree. As you progress through the game, you'll be able to allocate these perk points here to learn new actions or get new passive abilities!
