What Are Lifepaths?
Three Lifepaths To Choose From
At the very outset of Cyberpunk 2077, you will have to make an extremely important decision: which Lifepath will you go down? The game will present you with 3 very different choices which will fundamentally shape your story and gameplay experience.
Which Lifepath Will You Choose?
An official preview video for the 3 Lifepaths was released in summer 2020. Take a look at this to get a better idea of the atmosphere and mood of each of the three choices.
What Are The Differences?
|Factors Affected By Lifepath|
|1||Dialogue options with characters|
|3||Game ending (epilogue)|
|4||...and more? (TBD)|
Among the things so far confirmed to be affected by your Lifepath choice are dialogue options, sidequests, and the ending. This means that you can expect the story to be quite different if you attempt multiple playthroughs on different Lifepaths.
Given that the game isn't out yet, it's possible that Lifepaths affect even more aspects of the game! Stay tuned for more information.
Possible To Change Lifepaths?
It has been confirmed by one of the developers (source in Polish) that you will be able to change your Lifepath in the middle of the game. However, if you play as one Lifepath without changing, you will get bonuses or the experience will otherwise be unique and different.
Street Kid Lifepath
A Life On The Streets
The Street Kid Lifepath will see you be a regular denizen of Night City. Born there, your character will have lots of pre-existing connections with other people on the street and know the ins and outs of the darkest corners of this technological metropolis. Choosing this path is likely to affect your interactions with many people in the city.
A Free, Roaming Spirit
The Nomad hails from a group of people outside the city. Like their name suggests, they roam the wilderness of southern California at will, refusing to be tied down by anything. It seems something occurs to the main character to turn their family "to pieces", leading them to head for Night City.
A Disillusioned Corporate Pawn
The final Lifepath, the Corpo, is someone who entered the domineering Arasaka corporation with aspirations of climbing up the corporate ladder. Though ambitious and cunning, it seems that something goes wrong along the way and you leave the corporation. Perhaps having insider knowledge of their affairs will present some sort of advantage when trying to take them down?
