Iconic Clothing is simply clothing which is somewhat more memorable than a regular piece. It might be inspired by the design of an existing character in-game, making it stylish and desirable to have.
Is Iconic Clothing Better?
Since it seems that the majority of items (including clothing) in Cyberpunk 2077 scale to your level at the time you obtain them, it's difficult to say that one piece is better than another until you reach the absolute maximum level. It's therefore more practical to simply equip gear with a higher armor value than what you're currently wearing.
Iconic Clothing As A Collectible
Iconic pieces of clothing aren't necessarily stronger than normal ones - they're just somewhat... cooler.
