Max Level is 57
Currently the max level is capped at 57 in Borderlands 3. Even when playing in different game modes, once you reach Level 57, you'll stop gaining XP and leveling up.

Strongest Possible Enemies
When playing in Mayhem Mode or in TVHM, all enemies will be at their strongest since they scale to your level. You'll need to have the best weapons & items to survive against them.

The weapons and items you loot will also have their best stats possible at Level 57. This is the best time to farm for weapons & items to use in endgame.

No Announcement for Now
There has been no official announcement yet of any plans to increase the Level Cap. Although it was done in previous game, there hasn't been any indication if it will be done in Borderlands 3.
Could Come in a Future Update
Borderlands 2 received an increase in Level Cap in an update released after the launch of the game. There are 4 DLCs coming to Borderlands 3. It's possible that the level cap will be update in one of them.
